First question post in this forum...does anyone in the Seattle area have BudBuilt sliders on their rig?

I know this is asking a lot due to COVID, but if anyone has them and would be willing to meet up at any location convenient to them, I'd love to just take a look at their fit and finish.

I had a set of sliders from White Knuckle Off-Road on my Tundra, so I'm generally familiar with their products, but am trying to determine if the BudBuilt ones are worth the price premium.

Got a set four weeks ago, but I haven't put them on yet. Rock sliders with diamond plate.

I'd say Budbuilt is one of the most highly regarded products in this forum. I don't own any but it's pretty much unanimous.

I've got the White Knuckle for 200 and really like them. There's a local to me that has the BudBuilt ones. They do look great and I won't knock that. But he has the step sliders which are flat, and my White Knuckle are the rock sliders that are angled up. Haven't seen the angled up rock sliders in person though to compare to White Knuckle. Definitely like the way BudBuilt sliders mount though.
But as you mention the cost difference is there and I like my choice especially for cost.

How functional are the White Knuckle sliders as steps? With the angle up (which I really like), is it usable as a step? The wife needs a bit of a step to get in, especially it's lifted. My preference for the BudBuilt would actually be to just see if they'll make them w/o the top plates, to save a bit of weight.

@wingnutted Your best bet is to call the shop and talk to Rob (@Taco2Cruiser) he'll let you know what they are willing to do and not do. They are all made from scratch, so I suspect anything is possible. I've always found Rob to be extremely knowledgeable, helpful and great to work with.

ps. I've had two sets of their sliders, expedition skids, two different material versions of their shock guards. I'm a fan.

if you're looking for an 'in between' step slider vs rock rail check out the Metaltech4x4 options. They have a TLC and LX570 specific part that use the same step shape. Foot based mounting on the TLC, plate mounting on the LX570. Their shop is in the Portland suburbs.

I have the sliders which are angled up. I would not do them w/o the tread plate as there is too much space to have your ankle fall into. I don' know the weight of the diamond plate, but it would not be a noticeable saving until you started shaving a lot off of the vehicle. They function great as a step to get into the vehicle and are stealth from the side, barely registering as a black trim line from eye level. At first I was worried about having the wider slider with the rear kicker on a daily, but I don't even notice it anymore.

Ps. Mine are the "step" sliders. I like being able to stand on them to access the roof rack. Plus my wife and kids like being able to get in and out more easily.

If you need it for family to get it its a small space to step on.. I cared more about clearance, so if you need to help someone get it its still a decent step to the top of it if you are going to be lifted.

Hope these pictures help, if you want actually measurements let me know.

Bud Built sliders and skids here... i can’t imagine anything being better. You get hat you pay (and wait) for.

I second (and third, and forth......) the notion that BudBuilt are the best of the best. The full length mounting plate is what sets them apart from the others. I highly doubt in attempt of mud searching you could find anybody to have a single negative comment other than sometimes you gotta wait for them to build. I have the step sliders, would also agree that for all the weight of a built 200 that the diamond plate top plates do not even register on the scale of weight concerns. Really can’t weigh much. Definitely for me worth the benefit of traction in wet environments and flat step for roof access.

Budbuilt angled sliders here: they are great steps. The angle is subtle (see attached dirty pic), and still it’s really nice to have them tuck up a little. As everyone else has noted here and elsewhere, the quality and engineering are exceptional.
