Please put me down for front and engine in aluminum

I'm going to go ahead and add sliders w/ diamond plate as well as shock armor to my order so please update my line. Thanks!

The group buy is officially closed. For those on the list, please make sure to follow through with the order. Look out for a pm with a discount code. You may also call Rob direct and reference your username to place an order with the discount. You only have 1 week to make payment!

Thanks for your participation and Happy New Year!

I put myself in for a set of shock guards as well but they're only available for the land cruiser. Do the shock guards work on an LX?

Great question. I’m unfamiliar with the LX. Better to give BudBuilt a call directly for confirmation.

They fit, but to run the top bolt in on a LX, the rear seat bar needs to be unbolted from the housing. Then the shock guards attached, then the rear sway bar can be remounted.

I really appreciate a big chunk of you guys getting your orders in last night. A big high five to @ty240 for bringing the idea forward, and working with me and all the unknowns of a group buy that we had to work out.

I got half the tubing delivered today (2.5 tons), the other part of tubing for all the crossmembers will be tomorrow (1,500 pounds), then the sheet steel, stainless, and aluminum will be here next week on Monday (4 tons). I’ve got everyone that has order skids organized in my CAD computer and nested pretty good. Hopefully we get everyone else finished before the sheet loads show up. I found out my voicemail was not allowing me to know we had voicemails (thanks spectrum). So I’ve got a few guys I need to talk with and fine tune their blend of materials. But when I get the materials, we will be ready to just getting after it. I’ve got some extra laser tips for if/when the laser blows so down time should be minimized. I’ve also got an extra 300 pounds of welding wire for steel and aluminum in hand and I now have five, big ‘ol monster welding tanks ready to go. We’re on it!

Request for clarification - if we go to order online we pay full amount? If via phone it is X% deposit now, rest when ready, or full payment in advance as well?

You will receive the full discount whether ordering online (using the discount codes and including your user name in the comments section) or over the phone. Full payment will be required to guarantee participation in the group buy. The deposit is not necessary anymore.

I remember that when Budbuilt released the skids on their website there was an option to upgrade the hardware to SS. I didn't see this option in their updated website when I ordered mine. Do they all now come with SS hardware or did I missed the option?

All stainless now.

I worked a deal with the fastener company, and with dropping regular hardware, stainless qualities went up, we have less part numbers, and that made the labor cost come down on keeping all organized. So then I just kept the same hardware price overall. Plus I like it.

Half way done with cutting and bending. This is almost all of the aluminum, but starting on stainless now. Sliders are about 35-40% complete overall. We have 9 more pairs of sliders, then we are switching to TIG and welding the aluminum up. Still a long way to go, but we’re on it.

Looks great! Do you have recommendation on painting Al skids? Leave intreated, clear coat, rattle can? I don't have any experience with Al and have read threads about unsightly oxidization when left untreated. Not sure why that matters much for skids. Thanks...

I asked this question to Rob before I made my purchase because I drive on salted roads. He runs his naked, others have done both a hard and soft anodizing or painted. Oxidation of aluminum is not any big deal, it turns gray and the oxidized layer is the protection. It goes no further unless if it gets scraped, that will oxidize. I might still do something with mine just to keep them a bit more purty.

Any more progress pics? Love seeing the updates!
7 of 52 orders shipped. Lots more coming very soon. Almost all of this is just 200 armor.
