I changed my oil last night for the first time with my skids on. On the previous change I had the skids off for other work. I never noticed that the 3 5mm hex screws are not counter sunk into the plate like the oil filter access plate. In my mind, counter sunk would be better so I'm curious why they didn't design it that way and wonder if if they have done that on some of they. I'll drop Bud a note and ask. Just thought I'd ask the BB Club if any one has counter sunk screws for the oil pan access plate. I may machine the plate myself to get the 2 mm more ground clearance.... :steer:

On a side note, last change I installed a drain valve. I didn't use the Fumoto style valve because my OCD kept me awake at night worrying about a gremlin hitting the little lever or some other freak valve failure causing an oil dump. I know, that scenario is less likely than a meteor destroying the earth but the valve I bought (below) is equally easy to use as a Fumoto valve but has a threaded cap and you have to connect a hose anyway. All I have to do is unscrew the cap and screw on the drain hose which opens the valve. Easy peezy. A valve and drain tube is 100% necessary with BB skids in place. Last night was the first oil change I didn't spill oil everywhere.

Only thing I don't like about that is you need the hose to drain. I'd see myself losing it, or not having it when I need it.

Actually to ease those concerns they sell a retainer clip very reasonable.

It just comes out the spout like a normal drain but has a shut off feature
I know the Fumoto does that, but the Valvomax appears to require the screw on valve to open the hose.
