first let me say...
OH MY GOD! THAT IS SICK!

Now that thats out of the way, It seems like it would be a good time to add an int. roll cage. Have you given that any thought?

Keep up the good work!

HOLY Crazy short Bob Batman, where did the rest of the back end go.

That thing is impressively short. You were talking about keeping the tailgate, are you going to be keeping the upper hatch too, or just the tailgate?

Plan is to keep just the tailgate and have a light weight, snap in vinyl cover with a large window, made for the top half, that I could roll up. However, I like the added visibility of the fully open rear end. I may end up doing a two-piece vinyl cover for the whole rear opening. Thinking i could make a basic metal frame for the bottom half, so it would function like a tailgate. We will see. I just do things one step at a time. For now, I just need to get the rear end cleaned up and painted.

man, talk about a cut down, looks good though. I could see it with an open back roof area that has a snap down but removable cover with just the roll cage up top and the tailgate structure for the lower part.

you doing a million spot welds or running beads? Just filled in the roof rack and flare holes in my cruiser, and we had a bear of a time with the welding taking forever doing little zaps around each hole.

I did a lot of the tack-tack method to keep the heat down. It seems to work best for sheet-metal. Yeah, the welding took a good chunk of time. I kept doing about 6 inch sections and them moving to the other side. Lots of climbing around.

What's this mess sound like roaring down the road?
me bets pretty fuggin' awesome! Open rear fenders?!

Looks great! I think mine is about 2" longer than yours... I guess I need to get my butt in the shop to catch up with you!

Get on it!

With the plywood floor, and the sound blanket I hung up as a temporary rain/sound shield. Its not TOO loud, unless I really get on it. But I have been running with no muffler for a while, so I guess Ive gotten used to loud.

One more pic for now. I relocated the rear body mounts to inside the frame. That was the only way i could keep them and get it this short. Extended and reenforced them with some angle. Also chopped another 5" or so off the frame:

now the front is too long proportionately, so I espect we'll see it shortened up soon?

I knew the bobbed rear looked familiar....

Cleaning up the welds and stripping paint. Got a few small spots I still want to fix with some sheetmetal work, then comes the bondo.

Better pic. Took this one straight from the side so no elongation effect from camera angle:

Looks awesome man! Looks like the truck from above but on steroids.

Maybe this has been covered but what are your plans for bumpers and sliders??? You said your getting into overland/ expedition more, are you going to go with roof rack?

Yes on roof rack. Minimalist tube bumpers and sliders.
