Broken OEM Driver Side Roof Rack Cover

Hi All,

I was driving into a downtown garage with low ceiling clearance and broke the driver side plastic roof rack cover located at the rear side of the roof rack. Now that the bolts are exposed.

My questions are:

1) does the part come in pre-painted from Lexus/Toyota?
2) anyone has the part-number?
3) list price? Where can I get it for a better price?

I know my questions are very specific and may not be easy to find answers. I just hope that someone may be able to help. Thanks a lot.

Rack and parts are not available from Toyota...Discontinued, at least the earlier style. Not sure if '03 is the same. Check with Slee off road for possible people who up graded racks.

Thanks Phil for the good info. I visited the Slee website as suggested.

At this point, I will just go to the local dealer tomorrow and hope they can still order it. If not, I will definitely try Slee and websites alike.

Upon a more careful inspection this afternoon, I could actually see a dent in the area where the plastic cover is broken.....:o
 
My wife lost a cover in a carwash last year. I gave them the part number, they ordered it from Toyota no problem. Black plastic on a LC, not painted, much simpler. If you have a black LX that could be an option. Check with cDan?

The flat plastic covers are available, they cover the center mounts if your LX rack has 4 mounts. CDan could not convert to a 'yota pn as they're apparently a Lexus part only. I ordered from Peterson Lexus in Boise, cost if memory is working was ~ $20 or so. Mine was also sent into the carwash black hole...I used a bit of black silicone gasket sealer on the new one, no issues w/ carwash so far.

OP could have been talking about the corner (rack mount) covers, I'd expect CDan could convert them to 'yota parts; I have no idea if they're available or not.

Good luck. Last year when I was looking for a replacement for the OEM rack, dealers could only get parts "kits" as the roof rack was a port-installed option. Special order, no refund, and no detailed description of what the parts kit actually contained. I was trying to get a cross-bar only - i.e. no seperate parts diagrams for each individual component of the rack. Hopefully you can find a more helpful dealer, or maybe it's different for the LX...
 
OTOH, I just checked at toyotapartszone.com (which I didn't know about back then), and they list the rack parts for a 2003 Land Cruiser. Not sure about availability - you'd have to call. BTW, they've changed their procedures for accessing the diagrams, I guess Toyota must've gotten to them. You have to click the little "Get Info" button and follow a few more links, and may have to be a registered member to access them?- but they're still there. I got sticker shock, though... :eek:

I tired to buy parts or complete '98-'02 factory roof rack for my '06 and was told not available.

Happy New Year to you also!

I researched replacement parts for you Landcruiser roof rack, and I regret to inform you that Toyota has discontinued the manufacturing & distributing of all components for that rack. I also checked on the complete kit, as it was an Accessory back when it was available, but that has also been discontinued.

I did run the number for what Toyota is calling a "rubber bumper kit", part #PT278-60981-BK
and two dealers in the country did come up. They are:

1) Capitol Toyota - Chattanooga, TN ph#(423) 892-0661

2) Totoya of Wellesley - Wellesley, MA ph#(781) 237-2970

I would recommend you call them to verify they have it, and see if you can forward the photos to them before ordering, as we do not have pictures available to verify that what you need is included in the part # listed above.

Based on Toyota's pricing, I'd almost consider my trading my '01 LX rack for another o/u shotgun:D.

Thank you for all your help. I have already installed the OEM replacement part onto the roof rack and everything looks great again.

I ordered this part from a Lexus dealer and it cost about CAD$80 (about US$75??). The CAD$80 was already discounted by 15% from this nice guy at the dealer. It comes pre-painted. It takes 5 seconds to install.

I don't have the part number with me as I am on a trip at the moment. Take care.

Just going through the same thing. I had a branch come down on mine (PS front). The best I could find was $58.00.

It's called Roof Rack Leg or Leg Cover on many Toyota Parts sites but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $60.00 for a piece of plastic, OEM or not.

It looks as if I'm going to go with the "ATV ramp" rack.




*I always wanted one of those anyway.

Found this thread. I need the rear passenger side one. I think it's part 63493-60070 any ventures have better prices on this stuff? $70 for a little plastic piece is rough.

I'm removing the roof rack from my 01 LX this weekend. Would you like to have the cover?
 
PM me your address. I will mail it to you next week when I get the rack pulled off.

I'm cannibalizing these parts and sending the small parts out for free. Buy a one year account upgrade to mud in exchange. :beer:
