Broken half shaft on HZJ79 - is this a common problem anyone has found

Wanted some feed back from other members that might have faced this same problem. I was coming home the other day in an unloaded ute when I started to accelerate after a bend and suddenly felt something snap in the drive train. On closer inspection I found that the rear driving side (shorter ) half shaft on the rear diff had broken from the welds.

Is this a common problem I have found 3 vehicles from the same shipment to Sri Lanka that have had this same issue.

I will be in Sydney over the weekend and wanted to know if there is any place I can get a replacement from a wreckers. does anyone know if the half shaft on the HZJ79 mat he's the one on the V8 found in Aussie.

Also is there an aftermarket heavy duty replacement.

Are these used HZJ79S that have had the diff welded up? Its not a problem that I have heard of.
I think the V8 axles will fit the HZJ79 but there are plenty of wreckers who will have the older models in stock.

The ones that broke are the original factory halfshaft.

Yeah what I am looking for is a used one and wanted to know if anyone knew a good wrecker in sydney dealing specially with landcruisers.

Will check the yellow pages.

I was also thinking that the part should be freely available as the HZJ79 and the older model share the same part (32 spline half shaft)

Still very strange that this broke since I dont overload the cruiser and tend to be easy with the throttle but im running 295/75R16s (34" tires)

Wondering if its a factory problem since a few vehicles have had this problem in Sri Lanka.

Are there any after market heavy duty axels available for the 32 spline rear half shafts. Wondering whether to use this opportunity to upgrade them once and for all.
