Broken air intake hose fix

Here's a pic from mine last night. My break was right in between the first row of those flex ridges. I uses some heavy duty gaff tape I had in my truck that seems to fix EVERYTHING. At the very ENS you can see the shiny electrical tape that a PO apparently used to repair a crack on the ENS of the tube. After finding this I'm wondering what other 'fixes' there may be around my truck.

what is gaff tape? I have a tear between the first and second rib and need a repair to last until I can get a new hose. Electrical tape is close, but it is too narrow. I would prefer a tape that spanned the ribs in on wrap. I may over wrap the electrical with duct tape. Thoughts. Thanks Dan

trailer tube and zap staps,i carry a ruberized electrical tape that lineman use for outside cable connections . also firestone has a rubber calking that any roofing supply store that sells epdm (vulcanized rubber roofing) it has a chemical reaction that actually melts the rubber to rubber for a complete water proof bond. never tried it on this application but i have fixed wholes in bateries before with a hot glue gun with 100 % sucess rate. these should only be backyard bojang fixes till you get the new one right.

I am another duct tape fixer from way back. Apparently though, duct tape has to be changed every 10-15k miles. Gotta keep up on that. I changed out mine for a CDan special recently when I did my head gasket. My tape had moved around and was no longer completely sealing. Another vote here for good temp fix, but get the new tube ASAP.

Hahaha! Everyone at Chicken Express is wondering why the bearded guy in the corner of the restaurant just cracked up laughing.

Jb weld and gorilla duct tape until My replacement arrived from Dan....it's my DD.

Me too and prob Mea Culpa. Went and changed my airfilter w/o removing the hose from the MAF...... Silly me. Forced it thinking the rings on the hose were for flex. Didnt notice it crack when I put the air filter cover back on. Glad I wasnt in dusty conditions. The strange thing is it drove fine for a few hours, My Girlfriend was driving, she's not much of a motor head though an excellent driver both on and offroad. I was in another rig and not in communication. Made it to Truckke CA. It snowed and in the AM The FZJ would start, but not stay running unless I put my foot on the gas. I was fearful I might have frozen coolant or something horrendous. I an attempt to undo whatever I figure I must have done wrong, I actually put the old air filter that didnt look bad back on to retrace my steps, and tried starting the car w/ air cleaner cover off. Ddint run properly sans cover. Then I noticed a washer was missing between the aircleaner grommet and the nut to secure it. Bejeezus could the MAF be that sensitive?
Suddenly it started and ran perfectly again. As a pat on my back I called my pro MBZ trained Diesel mechanic friend to laud myself on my diagnosis. Mid conversation my partner interrupted me to tell me the cruiser didnt sound good at all. Fail. My Audi Allroad Diesel Touareg driving mech buddy told me to check that hose. It was cracked nearly all the way through at one of the I now assume heat shielding rings not flex rings. couldt see it with air cleaner housing closed. It is now gaffered taped and made it 300 miles home. I'll be ordering a new one. However were I deep off road or didnt have 20 bucks for a hose I'd try superglue plus powder. That sure fixed my ARB fridge freezer AC plug male end that goes into the fridge well, and thats a flexi point. Liked reading potential mods including silicone tubing, but see no real advantages. Wouldn't mind deleting the MAF just to have one less thing to go wrong, but that aint gonna fly with CA emmissions, and rightly so IMO.
PS neither my browser (chrome) nor my antivirus (Norton) is happy with IH8MUD right now. I'll post seperately. I read that chrome now blocks pop-up video content (yay!) I had to allow some BS and The web adress is marked not secure in order to use the forum,
