Hi 406 Cruisers! I'm from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, and president of the Vancouver Island Cruisers. I'll be doing a road trip down to Indio, California for Desert Trip and returning via the scenic route into Grand Teton and Yellowstone between Octorber 18-22ish. Have a couple questions about the area...

What are the roads through the park like that time of year?
What is the entry cost into the parks?
Any recommendations for places to camp?
Any spots I should check out while in the area?
Does anyone want to meet for a beer or coffee at some point?

My SOA bj62 adventure mobile equipped with a 3b diesel and h42 trans turning 37"MTR with 4.56 gears.

$30 buck entry fee good for a week and should cover the Tetons and Yellowstone.

Road closure dates:

Park Roads - Yellowstone National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

Campground closure information:

Opening & Closing Dates of Facilities - Yellowstone National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

I'd be up for meeting depending on your schedule.

Unfortunately YNP and Teton are no longer paired for entrance fees. It's actually $50 for a 7-day for both parks or $30 per park if purchased separately. And definitely check the road closures linked above, that time of year things can change quickly depending on weather or construction.
Otherwise, post up dates you'll be in the area and I'd bet we could get some folks together for a beverage!

Ah so its like Canada Eh, expensive parks. That's like $67cad!

The park fees just changed this year, the two parks used to share a standard entrance fee which was 5 or 10 bucks cheaper to begin with...

We are based out of Bozeman. There are members from around the state but the majority of our rides are within a few hours of Bozeman. We are lucky to have lots of great options within an hour or two in pretty much any direction.

X2.... snow can move in and close roads overnight, also most amenities inside the park, shops, hotels, etc. start closing down for the winter and can be hit or miss if they are open. It's a nice time to visit as the crowds are down and traffic is light.

So after stopping in Bozeman hopefully, I'll be heading towards Spokane along Route 90, are there any good logging roads or FSR's that allow camping? I'd prefer to be off the beaten track but not deeply isolated

totally dependent on the weather but going over skalkaho pass then dropping down and taking the magrudor corridor over to elk city idaho is a wonderful trip. roads are good and scenery is wonderful. might be more remote than you want and that late in the fall definetely watch the weather. fun trip

Thanks for all the info guys. Unfortunately I won't be making it up that way. Time was a factor and after a long ordeal with a blown ujoint, I'll be heading up the coast the whole way. Cheers!
