Hi All,

I just got my first Land Cruiser it's a 93 with 240,000 on her.

I only paid $6500 and on the outside/interior it's in really good shape.

I've been reading this board this morning and I wonder if someone could post a list of mechanical items I should address first. It seems like there are quite a few well know troublesome areas that I should address.

I can rebuild this thing from the bottom up if necessary, but I would appreciate it someone would give me a few pointers where to start.

Thanks and I'm sure your history and experience will be helpful.

Alternator brushes
fan clutch
starter contacts
check the PS cooler
rebuild the PS pump
change out the EGR modulator
Replace the fuel filter
clean the throttle body
check the hose from the air filter can to throttle body
check the throttle cable for stickyness, not returning all the way
check the harness where it passes over the EGR valve for wear
check the heat sheilds on exhaust for rattles
check the radiator for grey sludge
replace idler pulley
plan on a birf repack and rear bearing repack

thats about all the stuff LC wise, you would still need to inspect and service all the common auto stuff such as fluid changes and tune up

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the board :flipoff2:

The first thing you probably want to do is change all the fluids (engine, transmission, diffs, xfer case) and shoot everything w/ grease. I wouldn't go w/ anything real expensive (read syn) right away except in the engine maybe (tranny if desired). You want to check the birfields to see what kind of priority an axle service will be (turn the wheel all the way to the lock and move forward/back slowly - if you hear clicking it needs to be done asap). Starter contacts also should be replaced - your truck has the 2.2kW starter (plan on $40 and a couple of hours). Other than that just lurk around here and you will find a wealth of info - all the stuff I mentioned (and landtank) are well documented and in the tech section.

Congratulations on the new Cruiser!

Either the lithium is working or you took your own advice and started drinking again. Quite early in the morning I might add.

There's always the PHH (pesky heater hose) to check/replace :D

Thank you for telling me that about :flipoff2: I was trying not to be offended.

I bought my 93 almost two years ago with 227.000 and it still drove pretty good but I just went and bought a 97' inline 6 motor with only 60,000. I don't drive that one much so there is only about 70,000. We are supercharging it next month. She's a beauty! Congratulations on your new cruiser! and welcome!
