Brake pedal sticks, occasionally. From a stop, pedal feels like it sticks for a fraction of a second before releasing as I apply throttle.

I popped the hood, while truck had been sitting for several hours to find the brake fluid reservoir about 1 inch over Max.

I pulled it down to the Max level indicator with a medicine plunger.

Related? Anything else to check? I'll post back after a test drive.

Have the same problem, anybody have any ideas?

Same problem here - no fix found yet.

I found this while searching, maybe worth a shot? (Fyi: this was a general answer not specified towards Land Cruisers)

"The brake pedal pivot under the dash may have some gunk on it and needs to be cleaned. You can try some penetrating oil on the pivot shaft. If this does not work, the push rod that goes into the power booster or master cylinder may be binding on the carpet or floor mat, there also is a rubber bushing at the firewall that may be the problem. Get a flashlight and check these things. If you don't find the cause under the dash you may need to go to a shop"

Or the 10 year old orings on the piston are swollen, replace the piston and orings, about $50 bucks.

I drove mine a bit last night and again this morning. The sticking brake pedal has stopped. It seems that having too much brake fluid had this effect on my truck.

Again, I used a medicine dropper to take the brake fluid down to the Max line (while truck was cold) and the brake issue disappeared.

Im gonna try that - Mine has the sticking brakes too.

I also had that symptom, never knew for sure if the pedal was going to come back up on it's own or I had to use the left toe to help it back up. It had been this was for the past 4-5 years and I've just learned to deal with it, until...

I finally got sick of it and it seems to get worse as it gets hotter. So I dug up this old thread:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/406533-master-cylinder-rebuild-diy.html

Ordered the rebuild kit (piston) for about $46 and had it sitting here for about six weeks. None of the Toyota dealerships would touch installing it, nor would any independent garages due to liability reasons.

So a TON of thanks to a fellow mudder, bluecruiser, who did the linked procedure a couple of years back, came over this past Monday evening and we tackled it! In my opinion a 2-man job, but not terribly bad.

Working good so far, the pedal has not been sticking so far (only a couple of days, I know). But it feels like a new truck! I had the brakes done and system flushed before and that seemed to help for a while, but within a few weeks that sticking pedal symptom would return.

Anyway, read thru the link and see if it applies to you.

I fought with a sticking caliper for the past year. I finally gave up (having to pull it every 2 months to grease and rebuild) and bought a new one for 100 bucks. If your caliper is sticking that bad just replace it. Save yourself the time of having to pull everything twice.

A sticking caliper is not like a sticking master cylinder plunger. The MC rebuild is an awesome way to possibly save yourself $2K. Glad to help a Mudder when I can.
