I installed power stop rotors and pads last summer, and on Sunday when coming down my favorite fire road at low speeds in 1st and 2nd gear the brakes would squeal intermittently when not applied. When I would apply the brakes the pitch of the squeal would increase and then go away. Once I got down, aired up and hit the highway the squealing was gone. I don't think they got overly hot because I'm pretty good about using the transmission to keep my speed down on descents. Maybe sticky calipers? The noise was coming from both sides.

Probably seized calipers and/or debris caught in the slots/holes of the rotors.

Thanks! I thought about maybe the dust getting in there causing it as well. Just never had that happen before.

Yup, most likely crap in the rotors. 9/10 you can make it stop on the trail by backing up and pulling forward a few times, which can help dislodge the debris.
