Greetings,
I have been trouble free for so long I forgot the hundie is not perfect. going slow, turn left or right sharply and brakes come on hard enough to stop a slow roll. Then sometimes followed by a jecrky start, even spin a rear wheel in the dirt. Going highway speeds never noticed anything (relatively straight roads easy turns).
My first thoughts were loose wheel, stuck caliper, loose wheel bearing, failed suspension part.
pulled all 4 wheels and have very worn pads 1/8 -1/4" but no stuck calipers ie wheels turn by hand.
Checked suspension parts- all intact if tired. One slightly loose wheel bearing- tightened that.
checked if in 4wheel drive- no. Pushed little image of wheels button and no change either way. Brake fluid ok.
After all that -- still the same: truck will stop from slow coasting speed when wheel turned tightly .

I could not find anything on MUD but found a very similar issue on Diesel Place; the problem was fixed with new Hydro-Booster, whatever that is. Another said it is a flow control valve in the booster.

Is it the brake booster? Stumped-- Help!

Sounds like the drive train is binding. Have you tried cycling the diff locks? I've seen on LX where the center diff lock will be engaged, but the light on the dash will not be illuminated. Would be a very weird problem if your brakes engaged when turning, and I'd expect a VSC light or something if that we're happening under normal driving conditions. Just my 2 cents, no idea what it could be.

If your brakes are infact grabbing while turning your brake pads should not be evenly worn. It does sound like the center diff is locked, if it's not cycled routinley it can stick. Find a large parking lot, and drive in reverse while turning lock to lock. Listen to hear if you can hear any soleniod or ABS pump cycling. If the CDL is locked/stuck, the inside rear wheel will chirp and the inside front tire will bind and stop you. There is a wheel speed sensor connector in the engine bay, driver side, unplug that and see if that fixes any of the issues.

Another vote for an inadvertently locked center diff.

Thank You!
It was locked center diff. the light was off but the diff was locked. I thought I had checked that by driving with button in and out with no difference-- but when I drove figure 8 this morning with lock off , there was no binding.

I guess the center diff lock light is another 'D' mod.
Thanks again for your quick analysis of my problem.
Steve.
