Brake switch cushion/ brake light constant on

no good deed goes unpunished: was cleaning up a few things and had a little extra time so i decided to address the slightly squeaky brake pedal. unbolted it and greased all the pivots, put it back together. putting the tools away, noticed the brake lights were on.... ugh. never had seen this before so i decided that maybe i bumped something? started to adjust the brake light switch and noticed a little hole on the tab - knew immediately what had happened. looked EVERYWHERE for that button.. must have spent 30 minutes looking under the carpet etc, even pulled the dash cover off to see if it had jumped up somewhere... nowhere to be found
luckily the clutch switch pad was in decent shape so i stole that one until i could get to the dealership. in stock for less than a dollar (cheaper than the parts store). this truck is going to teach me to leave some things well enough alone
