Wondering if you guys have ever experienced this sort of electrical problem . I was driving home from worklast nite , and noticed that when I am on the brake , that all my right side turn signals kick in .. except they don't blink . They just stay a constant amber . I'm going to go down to the garage this morning and do some checking , but last nite I quickly set something on the brake pedal and did a circle check . I remember seeing the upper brake light on the hatch , but don't recall seeing my brake lights on the tail lights . My left side remains uneffected , and my right side functions as a turn signal fine if I am not on the brakes concurrently .

I am posting this in the hopes that it might sound familiar to someone that experienced something similar .

Note A : I had an alarm installed 4 months ago . Top shelf equipment and install ... and it has been great for 4 months . I only recently began using the auto start ... as I did last nite , so if this draws a blank for you guys then I may have to return to the install guys and ask them about it .

Note B : There were times last nite that the right turn signals would try to work even though they were locked because I had my foot on the brakes . You could see them flashing just a fraction brighter than they're 'locked-on' state .

Well it rained sheets here yesterday .. so hard it kept setting off the alarms shock sensor  I wonder if that rain drove itself into somewhere it shouldn't have ...

.. going downstairs now to pull the tail lights to look around . I've got a multi meter , but I'm really not sure what I should be looking for/at specifically to find this possibly bad ground

TY

In my limited experience with electrical I do know that tracking down a bad ground is a major PITA. :censor: I have never had much luck with it myself, and any shop I have ever talked to about it has told me 'we charge by the hour for however long it takes to find it'. Maybe someone else has a trick, I kinda feel like this is handing a shop a blank check and saying screw me please. However having said that if the alarm was done by a reputable shop that would be the place I would begin as it is most likely the problem being the only new component added to the electrical. Sorry I'm not more help. :flipoff2:

Rick , I think you got it .. and maybe Gumby was on to ..

I went down and jammed the brake pedal on . Smelled a very slight electrical burning . Not enough to isolate , so I started pulling back panels to root around . Behind the passenger rear panel I noticed the PO had decided to unmount the sub ... and found some aftermarket wiring ; filter and stuff which I disconnected .. hey maybe those RCA jacks were touching intermittently , causing that crackling that was driving me nuts a few years ago ?? But I digress ..

Next I hop over to the driver side rear panel ... I noticed an aftermarket flat antenna ( something like that security thingie they place in library books ) Wierd .. wtf is that for ?? It's coaxed in .. going who knows where ?! As I poke around some more , my brakes suddenly go off ! Hmmm , I hop out and notice smoke bellowing out of my trailer harness . Out of the actual connector . It also blew my STOP fuse ...

I wanted to look for a way to trouble shoot the problem with a visible que , so I hit the hazards and I noticed that now the driver side brake tail light comes on with the other normal ambers . So I start fiddling with the wires behind the driver rear panel hoping something will kick off the brake light .. no luck . But I hop down to find the trailer connector bubbling and bellowing its so damn hot !

So I guess I'll hack the connector off for now .. and see what happens . Hopefully theres a short in it , and doing so will correct the problem for now . I never use a trailer so no biggie ...

The only other pc of satellite info is that driver brake bulb had blown ; or at least one of the filaments did .

*out to hack the connector*

TY

If you follow that connector up into the truck it will eventually come to that controller. I'd take the whole thing out. The controller is daisy chained into the harness and has a single wire running under the floor mat to the otherside. So a simple unplug the connecters to the controller and then plug those connectors together would get it out of the system.

Got to love PO hack jobs, seems he was into gadgets and had plenty of them.

Well a black 'copter started hovering overhead when I started yanking on that coaxed flat antenna .. so I left it

I never fond any controller inside the rig , and so I just hacked off the offending end for now and sealed the wires , and tucked them up under the bumper .

Went to Canadian Tire , and bought some 10 amp fuses and some red brake bulbs . Of course I can't find red bulbs on the shelf , so I asked the guy if he actually sold red bulbs , and he said yeah .. over here . Takes me over to a LOCKED cabinet . Fawk , I laughed ... all the worlds bling s***e was in there , locked away . I suddenly felt so .. s p e c i a l :flipoff2:

Problem solved with the new fuse , and bulbs and hack job . :)

Thanx again ,

TY

PS : As I drive home from the store just now I'm sitting there waiting and waiting for the next song on my CD to come on . Then I notice the volumes at '0' .. I push it up to 24 .. only to watch it cycle back to '0' . WTF nowwww ?? The track and volume controls are all run off of a toggle similar to a mini-joystick . Well it's fawked .. a fruitfly so much as farts nearby now , and the volume races back to '0' . Brought the faceplate in with me , to see if I can fix it . It's probably like a cell phone though , and after 3 hrs of pulling all the minutia apart , I'll just find that I can't do s***e about s***e anyhow !! :censor: :censor: :censor:
