I am looking at changing brake pads and possibly rotors. Thoughts on EBC pads (I am sticking with stock rotors if I change them). Also, where is the best price for EBC parts? Thanks, Terry

Im watching a friends 80 that recently just replaced his rotors with high performance and EBC pads installed by a Toyota dealership. After driving his 80 in my neighborhood Ill take my old OEM set up hands down.

YMMV

Good to know. I respect your comments, thanks. T

I will say that I like the stock pads on my 80 much better than the EBCs I tried a few years ago. I do use the 100 pads on the front of my 80.

I prefer stock as well after seeing results of various other alternatives

'Results' meaning the amount of rotor wear? I'm thinking it might be a good idea to keep a spare set of pads in the garage even though I just did them (stock 80 front pads), and might go for the greater surface area of the 100-series pads next time. Longer life? Who knows...?

the only challenge I have found on the 100 pads is that they are so thick, the anti squeal shims cannot be used because they wont fit. This results in many times of loud squeaky brakes which are quite annoying.

I guess you could shave down some of the pad but that defeats the purpose?

@murf , I haven't had that problem. But that probably means my rotors are potato chip thin ;)

@LCP, I've seen you drive, so that allays all fears I might have had about needing any more braking power!

@LongDuck , you know Phil doesn't use the brakes! He's either on the gas or downshifting. ;)
