Hello everyone,

About a year ago I started getting this alarm sound in the cab of my rig, it would come on when the truck was off and never when it was running. At the time I no idea that it was the warning alarm that my brake master cylinder was on the outs. I also need to add that I didn't have the ABS/brake light come on at any point. After speaking to a couple Land Cruiser guys on Instagram and reading a couple post here on IH8MUD I determined I needed to replace the BMC. On a Facebook group for Land Cruiser there were a bunch of posts/comments about a guy who sole rebuilt units. I quickly purchased it and eventually got it installed at my local Toyota mechanic. Alarm went away and for the past 6 months have been a happy camper. Well yesterday the alarm was sounding when I went to leave for work. Again, like before it was just the alarm with no ABS/brake light. I've looked at some of post about BMC on here and I see some other issues like speed sensor and steering rack potentially being a cause. The issue for me is I've had the speed sensors and steering rack replaced within the last year. I saw some one post recently that they had a critter chewing up the wiring. I'm going to check that when I get home from work. However, if that not the issue does anyone have any other potential issues that could cause the alarm to go off? Could it be electrical gremlins? My alarm went off randomly early this morning, which has never happened in the time I've owned the truck. I checked my cameras to see if someone or something tried breaking in or hit it but there was nothing that happened, it just went off on its own. That's the reason I'm leaning to an electrical issue at the moment. Sorry for the rant but I'm stressing out about potentially having to purchase another BCM unit. Any help would be appreciated.

Would like to know what you found out. I'm exp the same issue with my LC. ABS light and alarm only goes off when the vehicle is off and never running. I believe it maybe the accumulator. I checked this am noticed the brake fluid was well above the max fluid line.

Be sure you follow the brake fluid checking procedure (described in the owner's manual and on the brake reservoir). You must shut off the truck, pump the brake pedal 40 times, and THEN check the brake fluid level. Do not just glance at the reservoir when under the hood.

Yes, followed the procedures from the FSM the night before rechecked in the am.

@Kam - Good! I would use a turkey baster/pump/hose and suck out any excess. No value in having too much in there.

I had an intermittent ABS warning light and warning buzz on the gauge cluster. Scanning codes said that it was a l had a C1256 (a accumulator low pressure) and a low voltage indication when scanning live data from the ABS module.

I disconnected the connectors on the brake master accumulator pump assembly, cleaned them and the alarm went away. I checked the ABS fault codes using the jumper on the diagnostic port and the ABS light on the dash blinked ever .25 sec indicating no fault.

For now I'm crossing my fingers that this was just an electrical gremlin and not the actual pump accumulator failing.
