ARB does not include a spanner wrench to adjust the preload. Either you have to buy one (I linked to the one I bought above) or hope your shop has the right tools. The wrench i bought worked but was a little small. Needed a slightly larger radius.
The included wrench is to adjust the compression and rebound.

I would suggest speaking politely with the owner of this shop and showing him the damage to the took and the pics of the truck. See if he is willing to do anything about it before going any further. If he is not, then calmly let him know that you will no longer be using his services and that you will be looking into a claim against the business for the damage done. Provide him your contact information and leave. If you have photos of the parts before the installation, take them too. You will need to be able to show that you are serious about a claim. As much as I know that I would be livid and hard to maintain control.... keeping calm in front of him during all of this is your best bet.

My opinion is that they damaged your goods and should replace them at their full cost.

I appreciate the feedback, guys. So I'm heading back to the shop this afternoon...for the fourth visit.

Not looking forward to it at all. Really frustrated.

Perhaps a call into the shop who sold and/or ARB directly for parts cost ahead of the meeting so they know precisely what they are facing. Unless the threads were damaged on the body during hammering I don't think the entire unit needs to be replaced? I assume that those collars are or will some-day be available separately?

To make matters even more frustrating...

The whole reason they had to re-do it was because there was WAY too much tension at 20mm.

The purpose of the re-do was simple:
-They were to drop it from 20mm to 5mm.

So after all the pounding?
Guess what they left it at???

12mm!!

12mm is MORE TENSION than you'd use even with a heavy bumper & winch!

So they left it at more than DOUBLE the agreed-to 5mm.

Reeeeeeally frustrated. :bang:

I would honestly have them put back your stock system and you need to ship or drive your rig to SLEE or another trusted shop guys on here have used. They failed to do the job you required of them and you could easily take them to court and will have to pay your attorney and court fees when they lose. I have zero tolerance for businesses that don't do the job they were paid to do.

Truth is...I considered exactly that. If I hadn't severely injured my back that had me literally in bed for a month extending into December...I may have well driven all the way to Slee in Colorado. As it is now, I may save up for some other mods and do just that some months from now. I absolutely LOVE the drive there through Utah, etc. and agree that it's the surest way of getting it done right the first time...without any reservation.

Sorry to hear about your back. I can't imagine being laid up that long. That's a long trip from San Diego. I know of a shop in Sonoma that worked on my first 200 when I lived there.
