No on finding out more about the original motor failure. I just know a piece of metal sheared off into one of the cylinder heads. The shop that diagnosed the problem showed me the piece of metal that was about 3 inches long, little thicker than a bobby pin.
I don’t mean to pile on, but what do you actually know? That someone showed you a sliver of metal? Any evidence that it came out of your engine?

That question shows just how much trust "we" as a society have in mechanics. I have no physical proof and took them for their word. All I do know is the nastiest sound I've ever heard from a motor when I would try to turn it over. The sound of a blender with rocks is the closest thing I can compare it to. When I heard the noise for the first time, I knew there was something bad going on..
