Bought/buying a 100...should I switch (for another 100 of course) already?

So I recently picked up a new to me 100 series. I got it from the second owner who owned it from 2001 (30k miles) until last weekend (160k miles). It last had the timing belt done at 60k miles as far as I can tell from records (weird time to do it in my opinion). Its decent, has the options I want, and was $9,300. I was looking for a sub-150k mile truck...but they were hard to find and when found them they were out of my price range. The alternator died on the truck I bought within 15 miles :bang:. I got that replaced and all is fine since then. I have determined I love the 100 series...so refined yet capable for what I do.

Here's my dilemma...another '99 and a 2000 both popped up locally with just over 200k miles, recent timing belts and decent service records...for $7k. I haven't licensed mine yet and paid the tax on it...so my question is...should I resell mine and trade 40k miles for having a timing belt done and $2k in my pocket to play with the truck? I do all the service on my own truck so doing the timing belt on mine would just cost the parts and some time...not a big deal...so it really boils down to the $2k bucks for 40k miles.

What say you my esteemed cruiser colleagues? Everyone says the motors are good for 300-400k...and trannies? What about the tranny in 2000? Internet lore or legit issue?

See if you can get the 99 for 6.:grinpimp:

IMO, you can never take the miles off. Id stick with yours since its close to the range you wanted.

Does the 99 have a rear locker ?

Thanks for the input guys!

I looked at the 2000 tonight and it was a dog....and not a good one ;-)

The '99 has a locker and looking at it tomorrow. I think I've talked my brother into it :-) More in the family :-)

Problem solved!

Big brother gots a cruiser!!!!

Nicer than mine and $2000 less!!

Now we have '99 twins!!

Awesome! What color is yours? He's stoked.

Very nice of your bro to accommodate the little feller! Are you modding your 80 or selling it?

I understand - I wanted to keep both cruisers as well... it was hard to sell my 80. Would have been too indulgent, but miss it almost daily :slap: !
