I have just been debating this whole snorkel thing lately! May I ask what your motivation is for the snorkel - water crossings, cool air intake?
I have been reading a lot lately and most evidence (that I have found, anyway) suggests that I may be able to help out my EGTs a little bit with a snorkel. That, and not water crossings, would be my primary motivation.

Toyota seems to market it like a raised intake for dust rather than water fording. The OEM one is 2 piece and not waterproof per say.

Side benefit is you will get cooler air than pulling from under the hood, although I don't know exactly what the temp drop is.
EGT temps seem to lower as well, or take longer to get hotter/and cool quicker. Again, I don't know the numbers to say how much of a difference.

I just know when I get fuel, everyone asks me *after RHD and what is it questions/comments* how deep of water do you go in? Get used to that.

Sold - I need another conversation starter at the fuel pump!! 😉

Yeah I always plan for a few extra minutes at the pump....ESPECIALLY when I bring our Irish Wolfhound puppy. 70 series, RHD, diesel, snorkel, Wolhound...30 minutes later. 🤣

Off topic... your build thread needs a photo of your truck with your puppy.

ha ha well of course there is always the look! even though 90% of my driving is highway where I live the road often does flood up to the door handles and even though there is a slightly longer back way to go to miss the flooded road my two young boys love it when we go "puddle hunting", I almost been caught out a few times

Id say it will definitely help the air intake as pulling air from under the guard cannot be that great

This is one of the reasons I never wanted a snorkel after my FJ73. It was hard to keep a straight face.
