I just picked up a 2005 black LC. All stock from the original owner. Has high mileage (269K) but extensive maintenance, mostly from Toyota dealers. Timing belt was done at 240K.

The owner had a parking lot incident that did very minor damage to the driver fender. Backing out of a space and cut it too close and clipped the driver front corner.

I ordered a new blueberry bumper from Slee that I will install next week as well as 1 1/4 spacers (f + r).

So here is my question. I plan to use this as my DD. 80% on tarmac/20% dirt. Slee recommended 285/65 18s. I have been looking at KO2s and see most people like these tires. Two questions:
  • will these rub with stock suspension and running boards?
  • will the stiffer sidewall significantly degrade the ride quality?
Thanks in advance.

ps. I will post pics once I get it back from the detail shop

Welcome to the forum. No those shouldn't rub. You should be fine.

As for the ride quality, it really depends on you. I have had the KO2 before and thought ride quality was fine. It does produce a bit of road noise but most tires that are good for off-road will. Just crank up the stereo and you will be good to go.

285/65-18 in Cooper ST Maxx
Is an excellent option to 275-70-18 K02 and similar price. Nominal height difference.

If it’s not too late you could skip the spacers and go 305/65/18 KO2. They will give you a great stance without spacers and won’t rub.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I went ahead and ordered the K02 from Discount. Turns out they had 5 in stock so they will be installing them Tuesday. Also, Discount is good if I don't like them I can exchange.

The truck is in detail through tomorrow - black is not easy to polish. Taking it to my local Toyota specialist Monday for once over and some maintenance.

Where did you take it to get detailed? Been looking for a good place

I took my LC to Finish Line Car Wash near Mississippit and Colorado blvd in Denver. Lance is the manager. Be specific with what you want and they do a good job.

The truck checked out well. Only a few minor items corrected. These LCs are amazing!

Here is my first posting of a pic of my new to me LC with new tires and a fresh detail. Looks pretty good fr 270K on the clock.

Looks great, will look even better with the Slee Blueberry, then the rear bar, slider steps, lift, roof rack, 3 inch exhaust, light bars, this forum has cost me a fortune, but money well spent on a reliable truck, you'll love it!

I plan on rear bumper, winch and maybe the Slee 2.5 lift with their shocks. The truck has 270K miles on the clock so I need to be careful how much I put into her. That being said, I took it to a Toyota specialist (Comprehensive Car Care) in Denver for a once over yesterday and they said it was in great shape. No leaks, everything works and I just had them do some basic maintenance (oil change, flush brake lines, lube/clean sunroof and pull running boards). $282, got to love how cheap and reliable these things are compared to everything else.
