Hello TAC members,

Rust has crept up in the rear sill and surrounding area of my 81 40. It needs to be cured with some sheet metal replacement. I can tell that the rear sill needs replacement for sure. Looking for a local body shop (or individual) that has done sheet metal replacement on 40s before.

"Tanners Custom and Collision, downtown Kansas City. Justin Tanner is the proprietor.

They quoted me a price and held to it, regardless of the fact that they encountered all kinds of hell when prepping the body. It had been painted three times prior, mostly by Maaco type shops. They disassembled the entire body, took all the panels off, and did it right."

The above was quoted from another thread where a member had his truck painted.

He was happy with the quality and the price, but was originally quote 3 weeks.....then it got strung out BAD and he had to rent a car to drive to work for two months.

Thanks! I got a few estimates but will also talk to them. I have heard good things about them.

It looks like they do good work, but his 3 Week job was 11 weeks. Cost him about $12K but they disassembled the truck to paint it right. Inside of door jambs, everything to COMPLETELY change the color.
