I am working on my 72GMC Tow Rig. I have new fenders and inner fender wells that I bought from LMC in Kansas City.

What is the best method of lining up the fender to the inner fenderwells and the body panels? Some of the holes are 1" off. I am currently using a couple of phillips screw drivers and adding every other bolt and not tightening everything until all the bolts aer in place.

This seems kinda barbaric to me.

Any suggestions?

I had some trouble getting the inner fender wells and the front fenders to mate back together on my FJ60. It took two people and a lot of pushing. And like you said not tightening the bolts till everything is in.

I dont want to think anout it....

Mine are off for paint right now.

Might be a good idea to have the fenders in the same room/area as the vehicle so they are the same temprature when you do the install.

Sounds like they were re-pro fenders, not OEM. thats pretty common in my experience. I would just redrill or egg them out to make em fit.

Come on dude, its only a chevy, not like its a cruiser! :D

LOL!

Lining up the inner fender wells, fenders, radiator support and the hood should not involve two floor jacks, one bottle jack and three ratched straps. Right?

I was so frustrated yesterday I actually worked on the wiring instead.

With aftermarket stuff, yes. The more of it that you have, the worse it gets, just a fender most of the time isn't bad, bolting aftermarket to aftermarket multiplies the errors. Sometimes you have to get medieval with it.:hillbilly:

Call LMC and ask them if they have a remedy for the problem, I was doing a 68 camaro and used all the fenders and hood from Auto Body Specialtes and had the same kinda problems I called and they were very helpful. Can't hurt. Goodluck
