Body Molding for FJ-55

Hey is anyone interested in Body Molding for the FJ-55 similiar to this:

SOR Body Molding

I found a place that sells it a lot cheaper ( you have to buy in bulk)

Is anyone interested? I want to get a beefier version than what SOR sells... PM me or post to this thread... Don't have to commit, but I'd like to gauge interest

Are you sure its the right size? Because I read the specter stuff is to thick and doesnt allow the door to close as well.

Yeah, I just brought up a little about this recently. The SOR stuff sucks, too bulky and it doesn't bend that easy around the upper rear corner of the door opening. I had one piece actually split trying to get it to bend. But, it works and keeps dust. BUT, it puts too much pressure on the regulators and puts way too much pressure on the window frame (enough to break a weld over a few weeks, and my pig isn't even very rusty). JC whitney sells a very similar product. So, if you can find something about 1/2-2/3 the size of SOR's stripping, fire away captain.

No Problem.. I'm looking at about 10 different samples... I bought 1 piece from SOR to see if it had gold in it or something... I couldn't figure out why they would charge that much money ... Any who, I'll experiment with a few different options...

Would you send me a link to the JC Whitney stuff. Have you used the JC Whitney trim before? Is it closer to OEM than the SOR stuff? Pricing would be equal to or less than JC Whitney. My main concern is finding something that works. Trim configuration varies as does pricing. But because of the bulk order it should be less than JC Whitney. Otherwise, what's the point?

SOR's is closer to stock, besides the color being off. The weather stripping itself is very different, but the trim that pushes on the clips is the same pattern/type, only black instead of grey.

Yes.

I used a JC Whitney piece for the window sweep on the tailgate, not a precise match but fairly close, had a chrome edge to it, cut to fit kind of thing... I think they have one that's closer to original, too, without the rubber extending down the sides, of course...

JC Whitney will send you samples of their generic weather stripping if you call 877-927-7427.

I checked their web site, wrote down a couple of different types and gave them a call. The operator told me that I should receive my samples in 2 wks.

They also offer to do a nationwide search for manufacturers of wether stripping for the PIG. If there is a manufacture they will call, if not you get notified by snail mail.
