hey
im gettin a 2" (50mm) body lift and a set of stainless steel extended brake lines 4" (100mm) over stock.

i was all set and ready until i was reading the outerlimits.com forum (aussie 4wd forum, not nearly as good as ih8mud, but it is local!) and someone said a body lift means messing around with steering column angles or something (he's more confused than he made me). Is there any truth to this or similiar? or has he just got his wires crossed.

also do i need the extended brake lines while theres only a bodylift? or can i wait till i have new suspension?

im getting new suspension in less than a month, itll either be OME Dakars or Rockcrawler/Rancho 3", havent decided.

any help would be great as im goin wheelin beginning of 2006, and would really like the body lift done and brakes reliable!

Cheers!

body lifts can entail steering concerns, shifters needing bending to not rub or pop out of gear, elec extentions, brake lines, the body lift itself is the easy part, it is getting all the other stuff done prperly can take some time and ingenuity...
cheers

I did a 2" body lift on my HJ61 with an auto and push button 4x4.

I did not need to bend anything. I did need to adjust the t-case shifter and the auto shifter cable. There was enough slip on the steering splines that I didn't do anything to it. I had no tight wires that needed adjusting. I dropped my rad 2". You will also need to do something with the air box or have a slight kink in the cross over pipe

As for brakes, the body lift will stretch the hard line that is coiled in the engine bay. Mine wasn't a big deal and works fine. The soft lines will not need to be changed .

Some things to consider on the manual tranny. You might need to open up the hole the shifter comes through to get enough throw. Also make sure the clutch line is long enough.
