X3 buddy needs to pay. Just email him a link to this thread. I unfortunately have caused damage to friends vehicles. I payed and it made me feel better about myself. It also kept friend a friend. If buddy doesn't pay he's not a buddy.

In the end it seems like a great but hard lesson to learn.

If I did anything to friends rig, I would obviously offer to pay. But most of my friends would refuse. You know the relationship between you and your friends. In the end you did the right thing. Just sucks what happened!

Next time you know to check everything. Glad no one was hurt. It definitely could have been worse. A couple years ago a pro was killed when a similar recovery went wrong.
