Anyone streaming blue tooth audio in a 2004 with factory Nav/DVD and factory six disc CD changer in the Center Console?

I want to stream music with my Iphone and be able to use the steering wheel volume controls. Would be nice to be able to change tracks and have song titles on NAV but not a necessity.

The USA spec BT35-Toy will not work with an external CD (like mine) according to the website as the needed port is used for the external factory CD.

I talked to Crutchfield and they do not have a blue tooth setup that will stream audio to my factory system (I want to continue using the factory head unit and changer).

What about the Vais Tech unit, with a Bluetooth unit in the Vais USB port?

I have the MML unit, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet...

Let us know how it ends up.

Thanx for the link. That is a nice setup.
Couple of things they say "fits most 2001 and newer Toys" and "utilizes the factory audio connectors" concern me. If the connector Vias needs to use is already connected to the external CD (this I understand is the USA spec problem) I would be out of luck.

I just last weekend installed a GROM unit in my '05 ES with factory nav. I can't remember the exact module, but I also added the Bluetooth module. Couldn't be happier. Works awesome with my phone (Droid Razr Maxx) Amazing integration, especially with the Motorola car dock. I pop the phone into the dock, and within about 10 seconds Pandora is streaming. No more commercials. The current track doesn't show on the nav screen, but I don't care because Pandora shows all that with album art on the phone. And the steering wheel controls do work as well.

The CD changer is supposed to still work but I don't know because I took mine out, it was just a nuisance, CDs are too much hassle when I also have all of them on my phone. Poweramp works excellent for playing tunes.

how does what you stuck in your puddle jumper in any way relate to this thread?

Oh, no need to thank me... it's what we do here.

You posted that you're looking for an interface to connect your iPhone to your factory nav. The nav unit in my car looks different from the front, but I'd bet it's the same guts behind the dash, same (terrible) interface. The GROM unit I bought (USB-2P-TOY) is also the recommended interface for your vehicle. The attached photo is how mine came out, I really like it.

I offered a solution that I'm happy with, and I wasn't sure if you knew about this option. You can use the information if you want... or not. But you don't need to be a dick about it.

Well said :)

I asked a specific question both in the subject line and in the post:

"Anyone streaming blue tooth audio in a 2004 with factory Nav/DVD and factory six disc CD changer in the Center Console? "

How do you think his reply related to my question?

(BTW, thanks for the tip on the GROM, I'm gonna get one for my Avalon - CD's are so 90's...)

so a one post member who has not posted since 2004 posts a specific question and 12 minutes later a three post member who has not posted since 2011 posts a specific response and links to a product.

then a 4928 post member mentions a cheaper competing product.

and now the op is upset with the 4928 member.

:hhmm:

oh, i get it now, the more you let your motor mouth run (even when you are off topic) the more you know. I see you have even more knowledge (ie posts) than the original motor mouth. Anyway got my answer elsewhere so see ya later. Lol
as for the “so 90s” boy we don’t plan to use the changer for audio cds but my wife does want to be able to update the NAV.

Your nav drive is under the passenger seat so even if you do away with the changer you can still update the nav.

+1 Nav is under passenger seat. I've seen it! The grom option looks interesting to me. I would just want to wire in though. I'd be worried about blue tooth music clashing with my existing blue tooth for my phone calls.

No, the Bluetooth integration is actually fantastic, because the phone does all the hard work of making them play nice, or at least mine does. It turns the music down when Google navigation needs to tell me something, and it shuts the music off when I get a phone call, and it's totally hands-free. It comes with a little mic that I have mounted right above my rear view mirror, the sound quality is excellent.

If I get a text message, the phone will even ask you if you want it to be read to you, hands-free. I have a "smart action" app on my phone that also automatically replies to all incoming texts that I'm driving and I'll reply when I stop.
