Hi, Borre.

Welcome on the forum.
Nice rig you have.
The problem with your headlights is hard to diagnose from the film because it is not visible what is related to what you do with the lightswitch, in other words is what you see is what going all the time or do you move the lightswitch as well.
What I think is that there is a broken wire in between (or a bad contact in) the lightswitch and relay.
First of all I would exchange the relay. If that doesn't change things, check grounding from relay to body. Then the cable-loom in between switch and relay.
Move it, rattle it and look what this does to the relay.

Thanks Ron
I will ask a friend that has the same car to borrow his relays... I hope the problems are there!

BTW: you should attend the Trophy we have 2. weekend in September - it's not that far from Norway :-)

If you check all the possibilities systematically you will find the culprit....no doubt.

I wish I was able to visit Norway once again.
Was there on holiday every year during the seventies and early eighties. Always enjoyed it very much.
Returned from Kola peninsula via Norway in 2005 and promised myself go back for a holiday as soon as possible. But later this year (September!) I'm leaving for a trip to Morocco, returning at the start of November. So no Norway this year....;)

It would be great to see some foreigners in the offroad field :-) the owner of the camp are dutch too! you could drink genever together!

well - to the problem!
I visited my man with the other LJ73 and found out that my relays are ok - so are my lamps and fuses...

but we did not find the source to the error

I also learned that my horn and hazards are nonworking - so I now suspect the handle on the steeringwheel - but I can't seem to generate the relay-psycho-alarm-ticking by rugging it... so I'm not sure

Guess I'm visiting ArcticTrucks to let them look at it...

Anyway, not me this year!!;p

These kind of intermittant faults are allways hard to solve. If things are completety broken finding the cause of the problem is most of the time quite easy.
That's why I advised to move the cables leading from the switch at the steering column to the relais. The switch itself can as well be the point where the problem is. Tapping the switch-body, moving the wires (they are soldered to the switch if I'm right) might show the problem.
Be aware that soldered wires, if not soldered correctly can break near the solderpoint.
This happens when the copperwire was heated too long and thus was able to suck up a lot of of solder. The wire then turns rigid over a longer distance (several cm) and can break at that point.
Now that you are mentioning other lights are behave strange as well, check also the fuses and feed from the battery.
Have you replaced the fuse?

Good luck.

BTW where is the Trophy held?
