bling Wing for 80 Sting, is this OEM?

An object paasing through air will create a vacuum behing it. The dimples on a golf ball are actually there to break up the vacuum created, otherwise it would fly kind of erretic like a ping-pong ball.

With that wing being smooth and extending over the rear like that creating that pocket as it does, I'm pretty sure you would increase the amount of vacuum behind the truck and dirt would collect more.

This is kind of what is behind drafting in auto racing. Get your vehicle in that vacuum pocket and let the car in front "suck" you along draining his fuel and reserving your's

You're turning Japanese Doug! ;p

I think I can offer the wing/visor/spoiler (or whatever) for $275 plus shipping, but please allow me to figure out which shipping method(s) I can offer (it might be a little too long to be sent through the post office), as well as weighing one to see how much it would be.

On the flaps, I'm not sure how they work or what they exactly do. And I do not live in the boonies so all the roads I travel are paved, not making me a good evaluator of how it works in regards to dust.

I imagine it will give you a good rearward vision when raining, snowing while you are parked for sure :D . I am planning on taking mine into the snowy mountains for sledding, so I might be able to report on its effect in snow then.

Anyway, I'll let you know about the shipping details after the weekend (I hope;) )

Understood.
The wing has a flap of sorts underneath to direct air over the hatch. Would work just like the US marketed deflector.

I can make dimples for extra $50, if you'd like.

Mot :flipoff2: ;p ;)

I'm sure you could have figured it out, but the "flaps" will rotate either up or down for increased/decreased downforce (minimize when rock crawling and maximize when zipping down to Lowe's)

Doug, I didn't get that the first time around. It took me like 3 minutes the second time. I was confused with all the glare and reflections in the pics and just assumed when everyone was talking about down force that they opened the other way.

Now those down force jokes don't even make sense let alone not being funny.

Im nice today here just for you http://postcalc.usps.gov/?mode=Intl_...noscript=false Yes Post Office, no problemo senior (Aka Mot San)

I suspected they will only accommodate a package with length upto 60" (150cm). And I have a feeling that the item in question here, especially in the box, will exceed that.

Did you tell me that you've had "Pelican" (Nippon) Express deliver your bumper before? Was it air or slowboat? Any other carriers for large items you've had to deal with in the past?

So far the only carrier I could find that would carry it is Pelican (Nippon Express) and they only do air, unless I'm moving and shipping my own stuff. I guess I can buy butt-load of them, along with the roof racks and ship them via cargo.

Any info. would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

LX,

Thanks for the reply!

Got my rear deflector shipped by USPS-> Post Office as long the box weight not exceed 90 -100Lbs (45Kg) then its fine.

I wish I could take your word for it!!
The post office here tells me that the meximum lengts is 150cm(60"). Unless another carrier here deals with the USPS I don't think I can use them. :frown:

My bumper weight more than 100Lbs and heavy stuff not just bumper, Ac dryer kit...etc so it gotta go by Pelican air (Not slow boat) :flipoff2:

Didn't it cost a TON?

FEDEX international priority->Cheap
UPS ->Expensive

I'll look into FED-EX and compare their prices with Pelican (NEC).

Thanks again!

Just curious. You guys are interested in this wind deflector because you don't already have one on your rig, or you want to replace the one that came with because you like this one better?

Hey Mot,

What's that thing attached to the middle of the bumper in the photo of #29 post?

speaking only for myself -- my rig doesn't have a wind deflector. if I got one, it would be one of these because I like the look/design better than the shortie ski that came with many US models. the wife's 80 has the "ski" -- I wouldn't replace hers with one of these...at least...that's my position today... ;)

Just for bling effect, I dont care if the window gets dirty... my rear washer still works.

It's all about the look for me on this one.:princess:

I don't usually care what the hell something looks like, but damn I like the look of that bling wing.

I also like the idea of doing something a little different. I'll have to take off my half a ski deflector to put it on, but that that was something I wanted to do anyway.

Trailer hitch/receiver, is that what it's called?

And I just brought back the one I had, to measure and weigh:

Drum roll please..........

the shipping weight is going to be between 3.5kgs and 4.0kgs (7+lbs to 8.5lbs) but the length of the box is ............

By the way, this is what it "could" look like under your Christmas tree! :flipoff2:

To be continued.... :frown:

The length is......

And the length is..........

130cm or in English, about 51", so we are good to go:bounce: :bounce2: :bounce: :bounce2: , EXCEPT...

I still have to confirm the maximum shipping length for slowboating with the post office, but for those of you who are impatient, you are good to go with "only" $68 in shipping. (If slowboat is indeed possible, then it would be $34.50.)

Anyway, sorry for making you put up with this "dramatic" storyline:rolleyes: , I had to have a little fun with you guys.

I was a little surprised actually how short (narrow) it was.

Happy Holidays!!

They are in.

I've got FIVE rear visors for the 80 and can only able to air mail them at this time (post office only goes upto 1.05m in length for slowboat).

One is reserved for airlaird, so actually there are four left. ;)

Let me know if any of you have any holiday cash left. :grinpimp:

Mot :)

Just wanted to let you know (I probably need to start another thread, but) that I've got three OEM visors that are similar to the one for the 80 for the 100 now.

Here is a pic of what it looks like (not really a good pic, but...):

Steve (airlaird) has got one on his way so hopefully he'll be able to chime in with his installation process (fingers crossed).
