I am running the yellow bushings, heavy 2.5" in the rear and the meduim 2.5" in the front, I wish I went 3" in the rear, 33" Geolanders. Works well but the tires are taking a beeting.

Why exactly is it causing the tires to take a beating? Is it the rear tires that get beat the most? Are you packing any extra weight in the front or rear?

woodsman44,

the steering dampner, tie rod, and sway bar look new. are they oem? or did you replace them?

i have the ome sd, but i'm wondering if i need a new tie rod...mine looks bent.

Hey Homer, the tie rod and sway bar are OEM, but the steering dampner is a new OME just sprayed black.

Wambo, your 97' looks very nice... awesome ride!

Nice, very clean! You will have to tell us how they do on their "Test".

These STT's did great on last hunting trip, gripped like crazy on the dirt, cleaned well going through mud. No snow yet but I bet they will do excellent if it ever snows in California. Cant wait!

I put a set of 235/85 STT's on my Nissan in Oz. Used them about a month this trip back and they appear a very nice tyre, balanced well and run true. Drove them through mud, some rocks and through bush and they don't show any signs of having gone offroad. In thick goop/mud they do fill up and turn into slicks but most tyres would end up doing that. Rocks (gravel) do stick in the tread and it takes days or longer for them to be thrown out.

I'll likely try a set on the 80 when the MTRs wear out.

cheers,
george.

I think my problem is the tire compound is a bit week for the rocks, as well I don't air down, and possibly a bit jumpy with the throtle, its just too much fun showing up all the jeep guys..

Wambo, I always air down when I go wheelin, a ton more traction and a smoother ride! And yes it can keep your tires from chunken-up.

Hey Nicholas,Its ride better than the stock springs, even without any after market bolt on's. It doent feel stiff ,just a little more solid.
Being lifted with bigger tires it has a little more sway than stock but still handle's well on street...no complaints

If you go with heavys you might want to go with the blue bushings to keep caster correct...I did and it steers like original..slee recomends the blue's without weight.

Would you mind taking picture of your front pinion angle with those blue bushings? Is your pinion pointing at the t-case?
Nice rig by the way:D

Mine is aligned for a DC shaft using just the Slee blue bushings (installed with LT template). I run a modified Taco shaft up front.

I think if you are at the higher end of caster from the factory (lower stock pinion angle) this can work out for you.

Noel, I will have pic up tomorrow.
Thanks...Scott

Noel, here's some pic's of the front pinion angle with blue bushings, stock bumper, no accesories...OME 850's (heavy's) ...the pinion is pointing up a little. I hope this helps.

Thanks Scott. The angle on that pinion is not too bad. Seems like the blue bushing is the way to go. Your undercarriage is in great shape too, no rust and looking like new:D Nice pictures and nice tires.
