Thanks for the link, that is a good deal. But I'm sooo pissed it even happened if i'm keeping the truck it's never going to happen again. Thus an ARB. I don't even want or need a front locker, I just don't want this BS to happen again. I was so pissed off!
Look at TJM too. Their locker doesn't have the option ring issues ARB does.

Sorry about your loss though OP. I blew the spiders in the front diff on my 4runner earlier this year and it cost me big time. Took it as an sign that I needed lockers and regearing.

1999 100, 200k miles, brand new 33" BFG KO2's pulled into our vacation house driveway with 3' feet of snow plus 1' of snow plow berm and promptly got stuck, stupid I know but I'm used to my 80.......

In an effort to unstick myself, low gear, rear locker, forward, reverse...turn tires......booooooooooom!!!!

Nothing extreme but I know.....expected.......knew it was possible but never thought I'd push the vehicle to this point. I didn't buy it to do anything crazy!!!

I have read a few treads about blowing up front diff, and my understanding is that it happen during pretty extreme/hard off-roading. This does not sounds that extreme. So what should I do if getting stuck in snow like this? I would have done the same thing. Seriously considering if I should just change the weak front diff as preventative.

There have been a few similar reports, stuck in snow in the driveway, gunning it forward and back, and then bam. It's not just "extreme" off road, it's a sudden load/traction that deflects something in the diff. Sometimes it's the ring and pinion, sometimes it's the spider gears. You could replace the diff as PM or just be careful in stuck situations.

I'd throw out the Harrop e-locker too. I've seen a couple Mud members mention installing them, but no reviews/write-ups I've seen here yet. As much as I like ARB, not having to buy a compressor additionally is attractive.

Yep. This isn't the first time I read about this happening in icy conditions. Found the link Busted front diff!! 98 Landcruiser _words of wisdom...

It scared me because I am hard on the gas off road.

That's why one of my first mods is probably going to be a TJM locker.

Yes, if you saw earlier, I was told by just differentials to use the TJM locker instead of the ARB. Sounds like there are advantages.
