How much do you pay in USA for a blank key at the dealer? Does anyone has any special price? I would need two and they are crazy expensive here in Canada.

These keys are easily available as a regular order part from Toyota.
I would tell your parts guy that he needs to work a bit harder to make his money.

I just ordered an all metal key($6ish) and also a plastic-topped key(~10) from Sam Stewart at Lowe Toyota. he said that both the metal and the plastic are oem and say toyota, so I'm quite happy with em

Just got a new key today. Ordered it from my local dealer, and got it cut with my keycode. $12 out the door. It is a little longer than my original key, but it is a factory, black capped "TOYOTA" key. I like it. I don't think they can order a key like my original in the second picture down. When the parts guy pulled up my vehicle that is the number it gave him. I also had a metal key cut. Blank TR-33.
It's crazy how worn down my original is. Yet they both work. Also see the difference in length.

My key used to pull out from the ignition while "ON" but not anymore. It works in all my locks. Ignition, doors, hatch, and gas door. A little stiff, but the locks don't seem to mind. It should get better with use.

Kline- that is a good thing if don't plan on putting anymore keys on your ignition key ring, as the added weight of million keys on the ring will prematurely wear out an ignition switch in any vehicle.
FWIW, the added length of the new key might put even more strain on the ignition due to added leverage? This might be a little anal, but in the second pic, grooves on the new key run up even further than on the original. I think it would be possible to have the key recut making it shorter. Might make a difference

Yeah I carry two key rings now. Used to be three. I'm very aware of wearing out the ignition. I've seen it happen. My girlfriends keychain is really heavy. I've told her to lighten it up a couple times.
The added length is would increase the weight. I actually thought about cutting the key shorter but the length doesn't bother me. I think it will be okay
The first picture is all I carry for the 60 ignition. The lone shot was on the way home from the dealer.

i wish i got my key from the dealership
i had to get mine from ACE hardware. its just a normal key, i want to go to toyota to see if they can order me a key!
