CRAP, I must buy one now.

Price has changed since OP posted up. It was $20 IIRC.

The price jumped right after I bought it, they called a "lightening deal".

I'm new to this HAM radio stuff and was looking at these handsets as an entry into the hobby. What is the difference between the UV-5R V2, UV-5R I6, and F9 V2? I can't seem to find any info. Please point me the right direction.

There are so many different names for the same thing it is a lot confusing.

As I understand it, the UV-5R V2 and I6 (and almost all the different variations on the same thing) are the same radio with possible cosmetic variances, just a different label so that the different distributors look like they have an "exclusive" product. The F9 looks like it is a UV-F8HP variant (8W output instead of 4W output.) Here is one list of the variants: Baofeng UV5R Variants - CHIRP

Another option would be the UV-82 which has a slightly better internal speaker, larger better feeling case, and has dual PTT buttons but doesn't have a VFO/MR button to switch between frequency mode and channel mode (have to turn the radio off/on with a button pressed to do that) and doesn't work with many of the accessories. I wish I had gotten this one just for the Dual PTT button.

Just about the best reference for these radios is Miklor.com, they have a comparison of the different versions here: http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_NewestRadio.php

As a value item, you can't really go wrong with any of them but, personally, I would stick with the basic UV-5R (or the -82) since some of the cosmetic variants don't work well with some of the accessories.
