It's a 4 speed with no heater and front drum brakes.

I looked it up and I think it was manufactured in December of 1978.

but for your matter, do a little test and take the oil plug on top of the engine, and check for blow by smoke.
If none, engine will last forever, slow but forever.
The 3.0 B engine was mounted on forklift and also on generators, made to run 24/7 for lonnnnng times
If well maintained this car cannot be killed...check suspicious places with a magnet to see if they patched with bondeau...
I would pay around 9k to 11k us$...and study why the seller wants to sell it for more...
The problems are simply because the car has been sitting I think...

The Katana batteries in the photo seems to be from the UK.

left hand drive and UK don't go together, it may have come from there but not originally sold there. the lack of heater would mean it came from a warmer climate closer to the equator.

If it helps with the origen I have the same configaration 40. Mine was imported from Germany to Namibia then onto South Africa.
It too has no rollbar or rear seats.
It does have a heater in the dash not rear. Drum brakes front 1978.

I was told with the 80 series they made them 24V for the harder cranking in colder climates. This is contradicted with yours not having a heater. Was it maybe removed?

On closer inspection mine also had a dash pad and hand break on the floor.

I'm not sure if the heater was removed or not. I just assumed that the 24v system was standard on diesel applications due to the higher compression.

The seller has said that he believes the BJ is worth a lot more than an FJ because the diesel engine is "so rare." I think I might end up passing on it because I think he has his head in the clouds.

Most of the SA 40's I looked at were 12v. A few were 24V.

Hi everyone,

Its from the Canary Islands And most dont have a heater ( not needed here lol ) and I would believe that it was pretty good before the respray as most here don't suffer from excessive rust problems.

They where 24v (NATO) spec to run radio control systems for military use.

I am starting to export Diesel LHD Land Cruisers from there to the US my prices will include shipping etc.

It would also have drum brakes all around and it has a low 1979 registration as it was built in late 1978

In short, I need to know the fair market value for a Cruiser like this. The guy won't throw out a number and wants me to come up with one. I would like to have a ballpark idea of the value, as it might be out of my price range entirely (I'm a young broke guy, lol).

Looks pretty nice. Explain your situation, offer him X number of dollars-maybe it's worth more but I can't afford it. Perhaps he'll give you a deal-who knows.

What's with the bumper nipples front and rear?
