Ok I met with Jeremy today and he was very helpful with my questions. He did note that my knuckle seals were leaking and should tend to those immediately.
So he also said it would be a big job but a good one for a group home wrench job. I would deeply appreciate any help I could get in this as I'm learning as I go.
As per usual food and beer will be provided. Can we get to this soon because I don't want to drive it in this condition.
This bj40 is from Spain so I don't know if seals are any different than Americans fj40s. All advice is appreciated.

Brandon, you'll need to get the parts on order. Talk to Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters @cruiseroutfit and he will hook you up with everything you'll need for the axle rebuild.

The rebuild kit arrived yesterday. They were very helpful. Now I've never done this before so I need a buddy who's knowledgable in this matter. I have drum brakes.
Could we have a help your member out day at my house?

I'm down for some wrenching, just short on time these days... I also haven't done a knuckle job but am happy to watch, flip through the FSM with you, and laugh when you bust your knuckles! I also need to do an axle rebuild on my 45, so i could use the practice. We didn't schedule any HAMOMs over the summer because it's so dang hot. We would be in your garage though, no?

Yes and it's somewhat air conditioned doors shut. It does look like a job , but I saw it on a YouTube video and it looks pretty straight forward. You mentioned a couple of guys that have done this. I don't remember the names. Sometimes just an extra set of hands and thought makes things go smoother. The driver side isn't leaking so I think We'll do just one side. The only difference from the video is drum vs. disc brake removal.

I was reading the thread on your last hamom and noticed a guy named Tristan that works at Toyota on River's would be willing to work on our projects. Wonder if he wouldn't mind doing a tech session for us using my truck. I'll do the wrenching while he just over sees while enjoying free good and beer. Just a thought.

It's not a hard job, just time consuming and messy.

I'd be down to lend a hand if my schedule allows. I did the front axle on my 80 before I moved down here, wasn't a bad job. Just let me know a date, weekends are best.

That would be great. I'm retired so any time you are not busy . This coming Saturday or Sunday would work for me. I have all kinds of tools but not a seal puller. My garage is air conditioned so it would be somewhat comfortable. It will be nice to meet members as I am new to the club.

I also have a Haynes manual which stinks as a tutorial . I need to get a Toyota service manual this week. Some paperwork came with the rebuild kit from Cruiser Outfitters that will be helpful.
Food preference ? Wings, ribs, or pizza oh and of course Beer!

There's a smoking deal on FSM's at this site:

So thankful for it, too! A manual for an H engine is pretty hard to find. He'll have everything you could possibly want to know about your 24V 3B engine. And it's all free. Thanks, @Trollhole !

Ok so I downloaded the fsm on chassis and 3b diesel. Everything is set. The only tools I don't have are a seal puller, hub nut socket and pre load tester. Cleaning the knuckle areas of dirt and oil so access is clean today and putting her on stands. Ready for brothers in arms ! If someone has these tools cool or I will get them.

OK now I'm really in a pickle. Trucks on jacks and just getting started and I can't get the dam thing apart. The first assembly has cone washers that wont let me open the first part of the hub. According to youtube videos this shouldn't be this hard. I don't want to force or break anything. I will pay someone with knowledge to come over and guide me.(reasonable fee please! ) I tried the HAMOM thing but no one seems to want to help. This shouldn't take that long with knowhow, beer is cold.

I wish I could help but I'm in Conway. We've got a HAMOM coming up in August that I'm gonna try to put a lift on at, but it looks like you need it sooner Hope you can find some help. Those cone washers are tough, using a brass hammer can sometimes pop them loose I think. Good luck!

The cone washers can be a bitch. try putting the nuts on flush with the studs and tapping them with a hammer. if that doesn't work, a hammer and chisel on the outer cone will, but sometimes will damage the cone.
Also, tap the hub around the edge once all of the nuts are loose.
I may be able to come down there one afternoon this week after work. I'll have to see. Wednesday is the best bet.

P.S.
No one shows up for an axle rebuild HAMOM

Thanks for responding. I will work on those cones. I tapped the housing to no avail so I let them soak overnight with rust remover. It would be great if you could come by. I understand how these are not a favorite for helping but I'll do the dirty work.
Wednesday is fine. My number is 317 255 9979. Call me and we can discuss time.
Thanks dbenke.

So much for bros in arms. Lol I was able to get the cones out this morning. I still haven't drained the diff yet due to the 24 mm socket
Slips. So Tristan told me to tap it all around to loosen it. Hope it works. I'm cleaning the whole knuckle area so it will be easier to work on. The rebuild kit came with enough parts to do both sides, I also got new bearings . The other one isn't leaking so I'll just do this one for now.
