+1, nice color!

but i dont know what body work you're talking about?! that thing is clean! just get the lift and tires and drive the rig!

i'm sure theres a TLC club in the 'pines you can roll with too!

im looking to just make things smoother... just minor stuff.. :D thanks for the comments guys!

Really nice rig! Tires, odds and ends are all that it looks like you need and roll with her. The 2B is an interesting point. I had a B engine, many here have 3Bs. Not many 2Bs though. I wonder how common those are in the Philippines and what parts availability is like. The good news is that it has to share a lot of parts with the B and the 3B. Nevertheless, some parts for those are starting to become hard to find. Follow Tom´s (lostmarbles) advice in this and diesel things, slowly begin to stockpile hard to find parts. He has never steered me wrong. Welcome to Mud:flipoff2:
Good luck,
John

to dream.. the impossible dream..

This is how i hope she'll look like when im done with her...

I mdae this model through sketchup btw... it is to scale as well.. :D if you guys want me to render a 3d pic of your desired cruiser, just tell me. I guess this can be my contribution to the site. Or, we can change the color, etc so that you can already know what it looks like before you build it. This is the purpose of this 3d rendition. :D

new plans... cant decide... gedemit, money doesnt want to start pouring in...

money doesnt want to start pouring in so that i can start pouring it out on my cruiser... this is what im doing for now... designed a METAL TECH based roll cage... this is what i hope she will look like...

update...

finally got the rig to a mechanic... he's an old dude that used to work with cruisers back in his home province. pushing 65 something.. nice man.. did the following things:

1. tank cleaning - theres was soo much muck, dirt, rust and grime in the tank.. they ended up cutting it then patching it up..

2. Injector cleaning and overhaul - had this jobbed out.. cost me about 100 USD, parts and labor. The dirt grime and rust clogged the injectors up soo bad that this couldnt bhe helped... is the price okay?

3. Cleaning and overhaul of rear drum brakes - the rear drum brakes got a bit stuck up... oh and a brake line was leaking..

4. installation of steering damper - still unsure about this one..

After 3 weeks of no running, she's finally started up.. m soo excited. will post pics again soon.

i have a question on shackles..

4x4 masters,

kindly take a look at my front and rear shackles in this photo... why are these different from the shakles that i see online?

does this mean that i already have a shakle lift?

help please.

From what i can see on your picture.....it appears that they are a bit longer than stock which is 2 3/4 inch eye to eye....those look about 4 inches or so which probably gave you a 3/4 inch lift give or take....

The ones in the back of your rig looks alot longer than the front.....probably the PO leveled it...

Here is a picture of mine with 2" overstock with a set of skyjacker softride 4"

another view, rear shackle

here's another view of the rear shackle..

was wondering if i should keep these or upgrade to another, beefier and/or longer set... what do you guys think?

great looking rig allanman.

im opting for a skyjacker OR a hellscreek but still cant find the budget AND the means to send a set over here.

thats probably the most amazing shackle i've ever seen.. quite ingenious actually.. you can adjust how long they are by fliping them around etc.

@ antfj - thats really good to know, i guess im keeping them. whew! 1 more less thing to spend on.. :D going to the mechanic later to get the breakdown of expenses... hope its not much...

another question... is a good condition 2b engine enough for trailing with 35 tires on? not looking to do anything EXTREME though...

is the 2b engine good enough for trailing?

my mane plan is to go up to 33 and at most a 35 x 15 x 12.5... will i EVENTUALLY need to upgrade the 2b or IF i have a good 2b, i should just keep on maintaining it and maybe just re-gear? im planning to do light to medium trailsn AT BEST... no wild stuff for me but most of my travel will be on paved roads... opinions please?

We are all different .... but personally I'd be content with the 2B.

The 2B has heaps of low-down torque to handle most off-roading and is ideal for rocky bush trails.

The 2B has good fuel economy too and is built to last indefinitely (being made with long-life components and designed for ease of rebuilding.)

IMO ... High speeds on the highway are unsafe/noisy in a forty anyway so it doesn't matter when you get overtaken on steep hills there.

And a forty is like a Harley motorcycle to me .... having so much "style" that "speed" or "handling" become irrelevant.

But on the other hand you will indeed notice a shortage of power in a "soft sand situation" for example. So if you plan on a lot of dune driving (or want mud-flinging-power in bog holes) perhaps you should change engines for more power.

PS. I try and keep my B-engined BJ40 light-weight to avoid harming its power-to-weight ratio. So I don't handicap it by adding stuff like bullbars and roofracks. (I note that you have none of those things fitted either.)

thanks lost marbles!

thanks so much for the input! i guess re-gearing would be last on my list? :D just finished the truck with the mechanic.. these things were done:

1. tank cleaning, inside scrubbing and re-coating
2. re-layout of fuel lines
3. drum brake cleaning, bleeding and hose change. rear drums were a bit stuck and had a leak.
4. slight electrical work, fixed a ground prblem
5. re-calibration and overhaul of fuel injectors

TOTAL bill

173.91 dollars, parts AND labor.

Do you have an H41 4-speed gearbox now?

If so ... and if by "regearing" you mean "installing a 5-speed H55 gearbox"..... then I think that would be unwise without upgrading the motor (to a more powerful unit) at the same time.

In other words, I think more power would be needed to make proper use of the 5-speed.

Cheers
Tom

PS. I am content with my B-engine/H41 combination. I think they are well-matched. But then ... I'm an old bastard and age does play a part here.:D Getting overtaken by big truck on the motorway doesn't bother me. ;)

she's finally home!!

haaaaaaaay... she's finally home. got her today.. and ofcourse, stupid me without checking, she had no more diesel... so, I RAN OUT OF DIESEL AGAIN!!! have to get the gauge fixed.. anyways, we pumped her up, put some diesel in and in an hour and a half, she was up and running. :D

will post pics soon.
