Fist of all Hello to everybody.I hope you will forgive me if I'l make mistakes but my english is not so good and tecnical words are arab to me.Any way, i would like to have your opinion about changing engine on my Bj 73 built in 1989 and with a horrible Vm engine 5 Cyl.Which could be the better one?13 bt or 12ht?I dont want, for the moment, spend a fortune changing everything(gear box, from 12v to 24 v etc etc)My meccanic is entusiastic of Range Rover and he tryed to convince me to sell the toy and buy a RR v8.He says there is to much to spend on mine to make it good, and for less, I cold buy something prepared and ready to go for deep muds.Probably he's wright but I want to fix it.I tried to have a quotation for those two engines but National Truck Spares(Arncliffe) never anweres back.It looks like toy engines are easily and cheaper to find there, than here in Italy. Here I can't help but if anyone of you has an Audi Rs 2 and needs help I will be glad to give a hand.Ciao da Roma:cheers:

13Bt will be a easier installation since this is the motor that came in the early BJ7x,12Ht will be more difficult.

Its going to depend on the spline count on the input shaft.
Im not sure what they used behind the VM engine but the 12HT has either 10 or 11 and the B engines were 14??

If it is the same as a B engine you could use a 14B or 15B from a Dyna

Thanks.Where can I find second hand engines or rebuilt? Here in Italy only 12 h at about 4.400 € and for that one,the job seems much harder than a 13bt.

You will probably have to import from either Saudi Arabia,Australia,New Zealand,Japan/Asia.

Here in Finland 13B-T is also very hard to find, but you can buy 12H-T for about 900-1000 euros. Or whole HJ-61 with cable locker axles for 2000-2500 euros. My daily driver is -89 HJ-61 and it cost 2400 e.

Cruisers are cheap everywhere but North America.

This is what i find in Italy:Dyna 2.8 diesel (3L) only turbo missing 4.200 €
4 Runner 3-0 diesel (1kz-t) only turbo missing 4.800€
Land Cruiser 4.2 diesel(1Hd-t) 5.800€ missing turbo,injection sistem and
something else. These are rebuilt engines with warranty.I have asked quotations from australia or africa but no aswers at all.Probably Italians are so bad....I wanted to have a decent engine but looks like i have to fix the old Vm one.Incredible!!Here to I haven't found anyone that has done that change and Toyota second hand engines are impossible to find and if you are so quick to find one they are gone after two minutes on the market.
