I've got a similar issue. @Stevepipeman , what did you end up doing to fix the binding problem?
I'll assume your bearing caps are on the correct journals, you've checked your thrust clearance and you've used plastigauge to measure your bearning clearance and you've torqued your caps in 3 stages to proper specs. Also, you've not lost or eliminated any of the bearing cap shims that can fall off the caps when disassembling the crank. I was afraid that after many years my block my have deformed to the point were align boring was necessary. My machine shop didn't like the resistance when turning the newly rebuilt rolling assembly, but couldn't align bore the crank bed. I completely disassembled the engine took to another shop who reassembled with all my parts. When I picked it up it was no easier to turn than it was when I assembled it. The builder told me not to compare turning a straight 6 to a V8. The engine runs great and I've had no issues. Good machinists are few and far between today. I couldn't gamble with destroying a block and $1500 in new parts.I've got a similar issue. @Stevepipeman , what did you end up doing to fix the binding problem?
