Hello all. Looking to install Bilstein 4600 shocks on the front end this weekend (on a '95). After receiving the shocks (24-014779) and looking at the washers and bushings, I have a question, because the printed Bilstein instructions are horrible. Where does the metal sleeve go in the sequence of things?

inside the bushing on the bottom of shock..?? Could have slid out.

Hi Scott Free,

Obviously way too late for you, but hopefully other people searching for info will find it useful.

I had the same issue with installing these Bilstein's (24-014779) on my 92 HDJ81 (Japanese Domestic) Land Cruiser diesel.

Unfortunately, I installed on a weekend when no Bilstein Tech Support available. Guess I should have reviewed the install instructions (ha ha...YEAH RIGHT!) before. They are truly useless. I only installed one shock and had a bad feeling so waited on the 2nd one. Glad I did. Brian McCroskey at BilsteinUSA sent the following diagrams. Never would have guessed this was the setup in a million Years. Basically it's...

Upper -Starting from the top of the upper shock spindle moving up...
Thick curved washer, curve facing up
Thinner rubber bushing (20MM?)
Thinner curved washer with index, curve facing down
FRAME
40mm Sleeve
Thicker rubber bushing (25mm?)
Thick flat washer
M10 lock nut

Lower -Starting from the bottom of the lower shock spindle moving down...
Thick curved washer, curve facing down
Thicker rubber bushing (25mm?)
Frame
Thinner curved washer with index, curve facing down
Thinner rubber bushing (20mm?)
thick curved washer, curve facing up
M12 lock nut

Cheers

Norm

Thank you for posting this! It just saved me since I would have never intuitively figured out that order.
