Both of my bro's tease me about my 80. They say that I don't wheel my truck, that it is a mall cruiser.
This is a big laugh in our Prescott group. Why is it that every time I visit the big Chitty, both of my brothers' trucks are pristine clean, and mine is covered with muck? I don't wheel my truck!!
Here, we just don't make a big deal out of it. Off-road is a way of life. If I have an hour to spare, I find a trail and go play!
In the Chitty, it takes at least an hour just to get from home to a trailhead. Then you can look for some mud! It is a big deal for you guys. For us it is every day. I have several trailheads within 10 minutes of home. Off-road is normal. It's how we live, that is why I moved here! In winter I have to decide whether to go up to snow, or down to desert.
I have put 20,000 plus miles on my 80 in the past year. At least 1/3 have been off-pavement.
I never wheel my rig! That's why it is rarely ever clean! I found all that mud at the mall!:):):):)
We currently own four Toyotas. Three of them are 4-wheel drive, and the other one is for sale. That's the kind of place where we live. Is anyone interested in a rare classic GTS Celica? I'll make you a deal!!

Mud is not wheeling.

ih8mud :hhmm:

Exactly how "classic" is this GTS celica? All-Trac Turbo variety? I don't want to buy it just curious.

You make it sound like Prescott Valley is back country, where you need to lock 'er up to get to the general store. I understand,....you were driving home from the mall and noticed a muddy construction site and spun in a few circles to impress the fella and told them a big fish story.:D You know im just kidding. How about some pics of your every day wheelin spots??

I couldn't resist:D...

Prescott Valley is not the backwater that it once was. But at least it reminds me of what Scottsdale was when I first moved there in 1969. I can get off of pavement in several directions within ten minutes of home. I have to go further to get to more interesting trails, but at least I don't have to drive for an hour through the city to reach a natural area. The birds in our yard change with the seasons. The antelope wander through our back creek area in spring. The dogs bark like crazy, and the antelope just ignore them. The skunks try to nest under the house, but the cats chase them off.
We had the most incredible skunk last spring. She was pure white with the slimmest stripe of black on her sides. She would walk around at night, proud as could be. Her tail would stand tall, 2' up, and not a hint of black on it. She was no more than 9" long, but her tail was there, everywhere and proud! A big white plume in the moonlight. She was a beautiful critter, and she knew it. She would tease the dogs, but never mess with the cats. She would walk right up to the gate. I kinda like that skunk. She's cute!

If you like Celicas, you can PM. This is not the venue for that. This one is rare, but not super-rare. It just has a package a year earlier than it was available on the market. It is not different from the 84. But the 83 was not advertised to have the GTS suspension or FI. They were few. I have one.

Speaking of mud, I may have opened a barrel just with a smartassed remark!
Let's see.. where can I go?
Yes Phil, last time I was at Barrett-Jackson, the Celica got some attention in the parking lot. It is pretty rare in a low $ kind of way. I came back to find people standing around it. It is not highly valuable, but it is rather rare. Only a very few Celicas were endowed with Supra suspension before the Supras were. Fewer yet were those with the test limited slip rear. It was a test bed version.
This is like you finding a US-spec FJ diesel troop carrier. You might suspect that it had been altered. The Celica was altered. It gets attention only among Celica people. To the rest, it is just a car. It is only different if you are familiar with US-issue older vintage Celicas.

Try owning a 100 like mine. You think you get drilled?

Hey! Do not ever disparage my 80. I love that truck. Never mind that the things that I like the least are the leather and power whatever. I would prefer that more things were manual. But that is one awesome truck! I might part with it when I an too old and feeble to climb into it! But not sooner.

cough...er...ahem...I believe it was affectionately aimed at 100's, not 80's:grinpimp:
