Hi guys, just got off the phone with Costco and they are having a special on BFG KO2 275/70/17 for $900 (four tires installed).

I currently have BFG KO 285/70/17 installed on TRD Rock Warrior rims that are 8 inches wide. They do not have this size for the new KO2 until March, but I need to buy the tires now.

Snowflake rating is important to me, and so the Toyo AT2 are out. Do you guys think it is ok to go down from 285 to 275 or will this cause some type of problem?

x2

I'm running 275's, no prob at all.... grab them!

Costco tire department told me that they cannot install any tire larger than the OE size. Only way they would install is if I take the rims off the vehicle bring it to their shop.

I understand your thought on the snowflake symbol, but I've had the KO with snowflake for years before and went to Toyo AT 2 this summer. Last week we got 10" of snow and more today and these tires perform much better. Obviously don't know what they improved with the new ones by couldn't be happier with my toyos.

I understand their caution, but LT285/70-17 is a standard size on the Land Cruiser when using the TRD wheels.

You should stop by your local Toyota dealer and ask him to get you one of the TRD wheel/tire stickers:

Ignore the recommended tire pressures - Toyota hasn't figured that out yet. You can point to the door jamb sticker when at places like Costco and this should eliminate any hassle.

285/70/17 is stock tire size for the TRD Rock Warrior rim. = D

Thanks for the feedback guys! I want the snowflake because of when I drive from Portland to Whistler to go skiing. The authorities will make you put on chains with tires without the snowflake symbol.

Ok.

No problem, but your new Cold Tire Pressures should be 42 psi F/R for the LT275/70R17 tires.
