Has anyone tried 295/70/18? NITTO Terra Grappler comes in that size. It comes out to 34.41in. tall fully inflated as per there website. I called a local tire shop and was quoted $214 per tire installed out the door on 285/70/18 Terra Grappler and $10 more per tire for the 295/70/18.

I have my eye on the 295's and thats a really good price. I have not looked real hard just yet but so far the best price I have found is $900 without installation. Discount Tires does not even show the 295 on there web site.

Let me know if you put on the 295's and if they rub? My truck goes in the shop, the first Monday after Thanksgiving. :bounce:

I have the 275/70/18 and there is now way you are going to get larger than that without offset or modified fenders. Mine come to within 1/4" of rubbing on the front mud flaps when turned.

I really like the height of the 275/70/18 (33.27") but without seeing it mounted I thought it would be to skinny. With that said I would love to see a picture from the front or back and from the side.

It's a 1/4" less than the 285. That's 1/8" difference on each side. It has a wider tread pattern, however, than the stock road tires.

There are plenty of pics floating around here...but you'll hardly notice the width difference.

JB my other concern is how do they air down with a load range of E accepting a max of 80 psi? FWIW The tires are for my 100 Series.

That is an issue. I run 38psi all the time, hoping to ease the wear on the tread by reducing friction/heat.

Offroading, I run 25psi. At that pressure, the tires still look like they are about to blow a bead when crunched on a rock. Many of my jeep buddies run much much lower, but I can't due to the weight.

Personally, I'm going to run Trail Grapplers on beadlocks next time around. These tires look badass. Oh, and I'm going to cut for 35's :)

WOW I dont understand how Nitto rates the 275 at 3640#@80psi and the 295 at 4080#@50psi???Make no sense to me:doh:

I agree the Trail Grapplers are Bad-ass. If I ever find 17" wheel I'm there.

I did find a picture of your LC on the GAP:clap:did you make the step?

Has anyone had some real use in driving offroad in the snow with the Terra grapplers? Will be hitting the mountains alot this winter. I have always had good luck with the bfg all terrains. The new revo 2 looks very promising. I agree with JB that the trail grappler looks pretty bad ass.

BFG A/T 285/65 R18's on a stock 200 series?

Judging from what's in this thread, it seems that 285/65 R18 bfg a/t's should fit on a stock 200. Their diameter is 32.7". I am about to swap them off my 100 series that I am trading in, so I just wanted to be sure. I have no intention of lifting the truck.

I've used my terra grapplers in the snow and love them. I have no experience with the BFG A/T's however.

I love the look of the trail's, but when you think about how much the vehicle is used for onroad travel, I'm not sure the trade off is worth it.

Considering how well rounding the terra grapplers are, they really are the best tire all around in my book.

Did anybody get these Nitto Trails? I am quite keen on some 285/65/R18s and would appreciate some feedback from anybody who has some Trails on their Cruiser.

Please show us the picture of 305/65/18...with your LC

Thank you

This is a very old thread. The 305/65/18 never happened. I went with 275/70/18 instead and love it.

For those considering 275/70-18's, I just picked up five 275/70-18 BFG AT's (11.0" x 33.2") from discounttires.com for $997.50 shipped! YMMV.

grapplers or trails?
