I’ve got the OEM 15s with BFG AT 31s
But now the OME is in and set up I want to change to new 16-17 wheels and 33s.
Primary use: beach, tarmac, wooded rough track

Would love to hear opinions.

I always liked the look of the FJ Cruiser Steelies and 255/85R16's on these trucks. Saw a guy at SAS3 that had this setup. Looked sharp.

Why upgrade wheel size? 15’s are old school like our rigs. More sidewall = better ride. I personally did not put 33x10.5’s on my stock wheels, but lots of people have done it. Most tires in 16” size are going to be Load Range E, which means they are heavy, meant for high load applications. Decrease in gas mileage. Decent selection in a 17” but now you’re talking about spending twice the coin because you gotta get wheels too.

Just my 2 cents

Check this thread. Lots of wheels and most list the tire they are running.

Clearance wise, the difference between a 33x10.5x15 and a comparable metric tire might be half an inch. Figuring the standard would come in at 32.8 and the metrics will vary slightly depending on the ratio.

I'm seriously considering going "old school" steel wheels with hubs. I'm happy with 33's on my OME medium 2.5" lift.

I use to run the BFG 33X9.5 AT's but now have 33X10.5 on new BFG AT KO's and really like the stance and ride.

With an medium ARB lift, I used to run skinny 33 KM2’s on 17” wheels and loved how they looked & handled. They tucked with no scraping. I used FJC wheels because I got a good deal on them but I really hated how they looked.

Stay 15” with 33x10.5 or go to 17” as someone previously mentioned. I didn’t want an E load tire and there we no suitable non-E load 16” tires.

To save money I found a new set of takeoffs from a Wrangler Rubicon. They are the perfect size: 32.1”x10” from a JK and 32.7”x11” from a JL/Gladiator. Downside is the JK tire is the old BFG MT pattern but that didn’t bother me. Really easy to find and if you’re a little patient can find a good deal.

2.5 OME with 33x10.5 KO2s on stock 15 steel wheels - covers most of my adventures and I think it looks great.
