this is what the FSM says to do... but i don't have the SST thing-a-jiggy. Anyone know how that SST works? does it form threads on the outside of the plug. Or am I looking at this wrong... is the SST for using after the plug is removed.

Howdy! I think I would use a Dremel A tiny hole in the center to find out how thick the plug is, and then a carbide burr to grind out the rest. The SST says it is to remove "the screw", not the plug. It looks like a micro-sized torque wrench so you don't damage the needle tip. For those readers in the smog testing world, this screw is the idle mixture adjustment, not the idle speed adjustment, and therefore it only controls the fuel mixture at idle speed, but it has no effect on anything once the engine gets up to about 1000 rpm.
