What is the best (and easiest) way to remove grease fittings? And how many will I need for my 60 (if I replace one, I want to replace all). Thanks.

I may just be ignorant, but I think they are threaded...i.e. they turn out with an appropriately sized wrench. Could be wrong, though.

Hey... I am the ignorant one here, buddy! Heh. Thanks!

I recall 8mm or 10mm wrench will take em right off.

Thanks, Pimp!

(The above is becoming my catchphrase on here)

8mm. Just added some to my new TREs the other day.

7mm box end is the wrench to use if you plan on reusing the fitting. You are talking the zerk fittings on the driveshafts and steering ends right?

Oh yeah... how many fittings are on a 60?

overhanger... yeah, I am referring to those. But I will be replacing them all, not reusing.

What's this 'Zerk'? I thought they were called grease nipples??

i think they're called both. i learned the word zerk first though when i used to work construction. either way somebody will know what you're talking about.

Each driveshaft has three and the steering on a 62, anyway, has two. One at the Pitman arm connection to the drag link and on the other end of the drag link (relay rod). Aftermarket tie rod ends also can be found with (old school) zerks or grease nipples, if you prefer. As long as they get greased they don't care what you call 'em!

Thanks. This weekend I am gonna grease some nipples!

Me too! (wifey get's back from a week long vacation tomorrow... )...

Doc... good luck with that!

Did we ever decide on the correct size of the fittings? I need to pick these up soon.

Oh yeah... I graduated to "Regular." So long, "Juniors!"

i think they are one size fits all. jhstatts...i don't even care about this thread, i just want to become a regular like you!!! haha. just kidding. as far as the ZERKS, i went to the hardware store and picked some up and they fit. there was only one size so i think the toyotas are somewhat standard (For once)

never seen a 7mm on a cruiser.....ya sure? maybe they are not even metic? I know on OME stuff I had a heck of a time finding the correct zert for the sping/shackle pins, I needed one with an 90deg end for the left rear shackle pin

finaly found some 9mm on my 45.
