I'd like to play my iPod Nano through the Levinson sound system but have no idea how to be able to do that. Any thoughts?

I know best buy has an interface for the oem stereo system on the lx470, I forgot what company, scosche I think?

I'm currently using the USA-Spec PA15-TOY in my 02' LX and while you can't do much with the on-screen features, it has a great sound and it recharges the ipod/iphone at the same time. Better than using the cassette adapter. I did try the PA20-TOY as well but it's no better than the PA15-TOY. I also use the Toy-15 for my XM-Radio. The cable for the ipod can be run through the ash tray so when not in use, it's out of sight.

I don't think Best Buy sells a direct connect hookup. On the ones they had listed for lexus the lx470 wasn't listed at all until 2003. I am probably going to get a hard wired fm transmitter installed this week. Everyone I talk to says the quality of the audio is nearly as good as the direct connect.

Does anyone know (or have experience) if this would work in a 2000 LX470? The website lists application for 2001 and later Lexus. Thanks!

Remove radio, install aftermarket nav with ipod integration.......at least that's what I did in 2004 :D

Audio through FM transmitter and sound quality don't all go in the same sentence.

We're talking about a direct connection; NOT the way you're thinking transmitting the signal wirelessly.

I have this type of system that I bought at best buy in my 99 lx with the nakamichi system. It sounds quite good; not quite as good as what a direct ipod connection would, however FAR superior to your standard FM transmitter. It charges it too. Only cost me 99 bucks installed.

I spent $10, and it works great. It's a tape, with a long cord. You plug the cord into your Ipod and put the tape in the cassette player. Turn the ipod to mid volume, and then adjust volume on the stereo. Done. Works great, decent quality and cheap.

I have an appt tomorrow at Best Buy to "try" to install new 6.5's in my front doors and a hardwired fm transmitter or direct connect. The installer I talked to sounded pretty compotent and said he would check if the direct connect they carry in stock would work. I'll post up results tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck finding a competent installer at Best Buy.

Ditto, I wouldn't let them within 10 foot of my vehicle.

I installed the VAIS iPod adapter last weekend and it was brain dead simple. The hardest part was removing the vent trim panels. Then you just install the cable y-adapter that uses toyota factory plugs on the back of the NAV unit. Put back together and done!

No need to pay someone for that simple task.

I dropped it off today and the installer used to work at a custom shop down the street. He at least sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Both my left side speakers were blown he told me. They are replacing all 4 door 6.5's with some Kickers. I wanted the Infinity reference series but he said they were too deep to mount with the factory speaker grills. Now I have read that Levinson's were 8 ohms and these Kickers were only 4 ohms. He promised they would work and sound good so we'll see how it turns out. They also wired in my fm transmitter, no direct connect available for my model. I'll post up when I take delivery tonight.

Let me know which shop it was and how their work is. I need to replace my door speakers as they don't handle loud music to well...

No prob. My speakers blew the 3rd day I had the cruiser. The guy I bought it from had a xm transmitter and all of his presets were news talk radio. I guess the speakers hadn't heard any 96.1/97.1 955.5 in quite a while!

9.71 is awesome, and 9.61 is where mine is pretty much stuck on  . Love those 2 channels. 9.55 has a few descent songs everynow and then. I must hear your new system when you get it finished!

Picked up the cruiser last night. They ended up putting the Kickers in the front doors and some pioneer 4's in the rear doors. They had the best fit he said and the best bang for the buck factor also. I am very pleased so far. All of my door panels look fine and are secure and it is a night and day difference in sound quality. That doesn't mean a lot though because both driver side speakers were blown and the pass front speaker was tearing away from the surround. The i-pod hook up is great also. There is no static interference at all, but it still doesn't sound quite as crisp as a CD. Now it's got me wanting a new head unit and a little sub in the back.
