There is no static interference at all, but it still doesn't sound quite as crisp as a CD.

Does this unit you are using for the iPod hook up use digital out, or line out? In other words does the volume control on the iPod do anything when listening through the stereo?

If it's line out, then yes the sounds is not going to be very crisp, digital out is the best.

My iPod connected through the VAIS sounds as good or better then CD. Very crisp, loud, and zero static or unwanted noise. I was actually impressed, I expected less sound quality. It uses digital out, and also charges the iPod while listening.

It is line out. It was the only thing available. Much, much better than my old fm transmitter but not like the direct connect I used to have in my 80. Probably early next year I'll replace the stock head unit with some sort of nav system and throw a small sub in the back at the same time to clean up the sound a little more.

Yes. I do like having the 6 disc changer too. I generally am not a big fan of aftermarket head units(I like to keep the factory look as much as possible for some reason, don't ask me why).

I dont like em either, but people dont even realize mine is aftermarket till they read the kenwood on the bottom. booyah!

Does anyone know (or have experience) if this would work in a 2000 LX470? The website lists application for 2001 and later Lexus. Thanks!

USA SPEC: PA15-Toy

Did you end up using this product? If so, how did it go?
I have a 1999, and I am looking into this.
Thanks!

...I installed the VAIS iPod adapter last weekend and it was brain dead simple. The hardest part was removing the vent trim panels. Then you just install the cable y-adapter that uses toyota factory plugs on the back of the NAV unit. Put back together and done!

Does this VAIS iPod adapter work on a Gen3 iPad in a 2005 LX470 as well? I use my iPad for nav and listening to audio books on long drives. Would the VAIS play the iPad and charge it as well?

I just ordered the MML for my 2005, which is similar if not identical to the 06 I believe. I'll let you know when I install it in a couple weeks.
