best tool for measuring RPM for carb tune?

What are you folks using to measure RPM when tuning the engine?

I have an analog dwell / tach / volt meter, but it's meant for 4 cyl engines.

I have used a Bosch Fix 7677 multimeter. It can do 4, 6, or cyl. Don't know if it is the BEST Tool, but it worked for me.

Dwell-Tach, as @gmac said. Mine also covers 4,6, and cylinders.
