The shop's recommendation was to buy both the bottom and upper foams together. They said I'd be able to tell the difference when I'm on the seat if they did not match. The OEM upper was $99.00. So by having them fabricated, I wouldn't save much. I didn’t buy the passenger side because it wasn't needed. I bought my truck in December of 2016 from the second owner with 189k miles. The first owner was his dad and the truck was handed down to him. My point is I know the history of the truck and the passenger side did not get much use. You can even see the difference of the driver and passenger side on my before pictures. Hardly any damage to the passenger side. That's why I didn’t buy that side. Are there any differences, yes. The driver side is more firm than the passenger right now but not by much. However, you can't sit on them at the same time so you'd never be able to tell.... overall I am very happy with the results. My truck needed some work when I bought it as it had been neglected. I have fixed everything on it now. This part was the last repair needed. If I had to do it all over again, I would do this repair first and not last! It already feels so great. Hopefully it'll feel even better in a few weeks once the few bumps and creases on the leather (because of the way it was folded for shipping) goes away.
As far as the price, here is the complete breakdown:
Front seat kit: $600.00
Center console: $59.00
Driver side lower foam: $220.00
Driver side upper foam: $99.00
New OEM leather shifter: $230.00 (they also have a "used in good condition" option for $120.00 less)
Steering wheel: $449.00 (they will refund $100.00 after I send the core back. So really it's $349.00)
Shipping to me: $59.00 (I did normal ground shipping)
Installation for the whole kit, foams, console, swapping the steering wheel and shifter took 12.5 hours at $95.00/hour for a total of $1187.50
That brings the total to $2,903.50. If I send the steering wheel core back, that will reduce the cost by $100.00 minus shipping. I may just keep it...
I should mention that my armrests on both door panels were in good shape. I did not order them. There was an option to add them as a package with the center console for $38.00. Even though I did not order them, they were sent to me. I was going to install them anyways but the shop told me the whole door panel would have to come off. So that would add about 2 hours of labor for both sides. So I passed on that. So to do the armrests, the total cost would increase by about $200.00
Also, they outsource the steering wheel from elsewhere. It came earlier and separately direct from somewhere else. When I first ordered (April 9th) they took my credit card number but did not charge it. I was charged for the whole amount once my steering was ready to be shipped to me. They called me and told me about it when that was happening. That was on May 17th. Everything else was shipped out on May 23rd.
There you have it. I placed my order on April 9th. I got everything on May 29th. Took the truck in on the 31st, and it was ready on June 1st.
So the short answer, about 8 weeks and around $2,900.00!
I hope this helps some people on their decision...
