The shop's recommendation was to buy both the bottom and upper foams together. They said I'd be able to tell the difference when I'm on the seat if they did not match. The OEM upper was $99.00. So by having them fabricated, I wouldn't save much. I didn’t buy the passenger side because it wasn't needed. I bought my truck in December of 2016 from the second owner with 189k miles. The first owner was his dad and the truck was handed down to him. My point is I know the history of the truck and the passenger side did not get much use. You can even see the difference of the driver and passenger side on my before pictures. Hardly any damage to the passenger side. That's why I didn’t buy that side. Are there any differences, yes. The driver side is more firm than the passenger right now but not by much. However, you can't sit on them at the same time so you'd never be able to tell.... overall I am very happy with the results. My truck needed some work when I bought it as it had been neglected. I have fixed everything on it now. This part was the last repair needed. If I had to do it all over again, I would do this repair first and not last! It already feels so great. Hopefully it'll feel even better in a few weeks once the few bumps and creases on the leather (because of the way it was folded for shipping) goes away.

As far as the price, here is the complete breakdown:

Front seat kit: $600.00
Center console: $59.00
Driver side lower foam: $220.00
Driver side upper foam: $99.00
New OEM leather shifter: $230.00 (they also have a "used in good condition" option for $120.00 less)
Steering wheel: $449.00 (they will refund $100.00 after I send the core back. So really it's $349.00)
Shipping to me: $59.00 (I did normal ground shipping)
Installation for the whole kit, foams, console, swapping the steering wheel and shifter took 12.5 hours at $95.00/hour for a total of $1187.50
That brings the total to $2,903.50. If I send the steering wheel core back, that will reduce the cost by $100.00 minus shipping. I may just keep it...
I should mention that my armrests on both door panels were in good shape. I did not order them. There was an option to add them as a package with the center console for $38.00. Even though I did not order them, they were sent to me. I was going to install them anyways but the shop told me the whole door panel would have to come off. So that would add about 2 hours of labor for both sides. So I passed on that. So to do the armrests, the total cost would increase by about $200.00
Also, they outsource the steering wheel from elsewhere. It came earlier and separately direct from somewhere else. When I first ordered (April 9th) they took my credit card number but did not charge it. I was charged for the whole amount once my steering was ready to be shipped to me. They called me and told me about it when that was happening. That was on May 17th. Everything else was shipped out on May 23rd.
There you have it. I placed my order on April 9th. I got everything on May 29th. Took the truck in on the 31st, and it was ready on June 1st.
So the short answer, about 8 weeks and around $2,900.00!
I hope this helps some people on their decision...

I agree there are different ways and more economical ways of doing it. But I wanted to go the stock way...
And I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

For sure man, did not mean to criticize your decision, just wanted to toss out another option out there. Plus not everyone likes the way sporty seats feel, but I love how they hug me, should help keep me planted on the trails!

They look amazing, nicely done!

Unfortunately, the shop wasn't right about that. The armrests just pop off with 2 clips and the door panels can be left alone.

You are correct. I just went in my truck and checked. They popped right off. I will be making a call to the shop’s owner first thing Monday morning. This does not make me happy.

Thank you.

Your welcome, I hope the shop is going to do the right thing!

Are the factory seat bottom and upper foams readily available through Toyota? If so, got part numbers handy? Many thanks.

Unless you are absolutely in love with the look and feel of the stock seats, there are many other better options out there. Take for instance what I put in :)

All in, including paying for bracket fabrication, it cost me less than a set of new leathers alone!

Edwin on Instagram: “Here's the reveal! The rock hard, 24 year old, torn up seats have been replaced by Audi S5 seats. These are powered, heated, and super…”

Dang it. I recall the post about a guy who installed Audi seats into his cruiser.

Those were tan in color. Lookded pretty sweet. I was hoping this was the link, but isn’t. Those look to “racey” for my taste & wrong color.

I’ll need to research. My dilemma is redoing seats, needing to do Landtanks seat brackets, which I’ve had on the “to do list” for years (still parts in hand), and then have the worm gears go out out again.

I did the worm gear replacement, but I don’t trust it. Seems like the weak link. I unplugged the electrical, to the seat, to prevent the wife from effing it up once again.

The thread you are referring to is where I got my idea from. He used Audi A4 S-Line seats. The install would be the same since the A4 and S4 share a chassis.

I don’t know if Toyota offers them or not. But cruiser parts sells both remanufactured and Toyota ones. I don’t have the part numbers anymore since the packaging was thrown away. But if you look at post number 49 you will see the picture of one of the foams with the part number on it.
You can also call the cruiser parts. They have them.

Seat Cushion Foam - Front Left Lower - 90 to 97 80 Series [71512-60110 71512-60020] - $183.97 : CruiserParts.net, Toyota Landcruiser Parts

Not a fan of cruiser parts. Had a poor experience with them and won’t buy from them ever again.

Thanks for the info though! Love your attn to detail.

Since the armrests pop right off I went ahead and switched the front with rears on both sides. My back seats have had very little use and are in excellent shape. I guess I'll just have a backup set of covers for the armrests. The pictures below are from the driver side. The one in the worst shape is obviously from the driver and the other one is from the rear. I have now switched them.

I bought my 93 leather front replacement seat covers from LCH and they came in from South America as I was told they would. The estimated time was two months but it took about three. The workmanship is excellent as is the grey color match. I’ll post some before and after pics soon. OP... your LC turned out great.

How long ago did you order your leather kit man? I’ve been waiting since March 8th!

I ordered middle of July 2017 and they arrived mid October 2017. His communication was good and he checked everything to see if it was as ordered. Factory forgot to pack the two arm rest covers and he made sure they arrived a couple weeks later. He has to deal with the factory in South America and although it took a little longer it was worth the wait. I paid in full in advance so I understand your doubt but the end results were very good. I’d definitely order from him again.

Is 71512-60020 the correct part number for ALL DS seat cushions? When I search on the dealer's website it says these are for manual seats.
