Been studying up and am geting ready to bite off as much as I can chew. It is time for the front axle service/rebuild. Not looking forward to it, but I know Mr. T isn't dropping by anytime soon to dirty up my driveway for me. Soooooooo........ On to the question to all of you who have done this job before. What is the best source for parts for this nightmare? I know the obvious answer is gonna be C-Dan. But, did any of you go with a different supplier? Did anybody have a bad experience with any suppliers or parts? How about the poly wiper seals? Good idea or no? What brand / type of grease works best in our region? Any particular bearing seem best? What about changing over to 100 series brakes and new rotors while I have it apart ........

So Many Questions:bang:

Any tips, advice, offers to do it for me(or just to pay for the parts) are welcome, so come on ,POST UP.
I hope to be able to do this before th weather gets too unbearable. I don't think I should put this off til spring.

I used the kit from cruiseroutfitters when I did the axle job, I didn't do the wheel bearings then. A couple of years later I changed the bearings with the sets from Autozone - supposedly they are the same ones you get from toyota. When I installed the front locker I used the longfield poly wipers and the marlin inner axle seals. I have been happy with all of it.

I think you may be able to just get everything from cruiseroutfitters, the only thing I am not sure about is the wipers.

I don't think the grease really matters, you just need lots of it and get tubs, not tubes. get some cheap gear oil so you can run it in the front diff for a few weeks and change again to flush out the old moly that will be in there.

I've used cruiser outfitters as well and I normally buy from them when I can and they have the parts. He knows the product and can offer advice for getting whatever you need. I've also have purchased some stuff from Marlin Crawlers and I would get the seals he makes as apparently they are the best thing out there (axle seals).

I had some old cheap large plastic type containers (cheapo like walmart has) and I used one under each side of the front axle to catch the grease oil and crap....then when it was all over...both containers when in the dumpster (made clean up fairly easy.

this is on my 60

If you need new OEM toyota stuff then I would for sure use American Toyota.

I like buying from ACC. They are closer and know cruisers backwards and forwards + they have good prices and great advice.

Parts washer I use is a 5 gallon bucket, about 2-3 gallons of gas, and a pair or two of chemical resistant gloves. Firehouse Subs sells buckets for $2 each and they throw in the pickle odor for free.
